Nice interview with Lewisohn in the Liverpool Echo. Among other things, he addresses the question of concerns about the surviving Beatles (interesting, as I presume this interview was done after Paul’s Howard Stern interview).

That’s great, DrB. Congrats!
Now if we can get Lewisohn to recognize The Beatles Bible too…

Thanks, all!
I’ve contacted Mark as well because at the end of the book, he makes an appeal for firsthand source material and I know some people and some things he may be able to use for information…we shall see if he’s interested!

Me, too (of course!) We’ll see if he does. I actually do know people who saw the Beatles live and they may have memorabilia as well, never mind their priceless memories to share. If it could be of help to him…*shrug* Worth a try!

Reminds me of the Kinks’ song “Yes Sir, No Sir.”

I live next door to an Army base. My husband work on the base. We are surrounded by soldiers. It’s easy to get caught up in their chants and phrases.

My copy arrived last night, through my own screw-up. I forgot to cancel my pre-order on the UK version (and Amazon conveniently doesn’t bother to remind you *before* they charge you). I was going to return it, but I just calculated the shipping and that would be so expensive it would cancel out the refund. So it’s here! I have it in time for Lewisohn’s signings.

Don’t know if anyone else from LA is seeing these posts, but if you’re going to the Lewisohn signing at Bloomingdales Sherman Oaks on Sunday, it’s in the men’s department, 1st floor, from 3-6.

[Tried to post this yesterday but the site was down.]
Yesterday , I went to Mark Lewisohn’s signing of Tune In at Bloomingdale’s in Sherman Oaks. I missed the talk he gave, as that afternoon was my only opportunity to see a friend in a play, so I literally sat down as he was finishing the final question. I’m kind of tempted to go to one of his other talks this week to see what I missed.
They haven’t been publicizing these signings very well – it wasn’t even mentioned on “Breakfast with the Beatles” even though Chris Carter will be on a panel with Lewisohn this week – so the line was very short. It sounded like things started late because the Bloomingdale’s people were apologizing and thanking people for their patience, and offered us iced tea. The thing I noticed immediately is that everyone who wasn’t buying the book that day had a tote bag. Even though I joked about it, I think they really should have sold tote bags for Tune In. We don’t even have the deluxe edition yet, and already this one’s too unwieldy to hold in one hand.
When it was my turn, and Lewisohn thought it was great to see one of the UK copies over here, and he commented that I’d be getting the English spellings in my copy. He’s really nice. We chatted a bit about someone I know with a real-life Beatle connection since he’s still looking for people to interview, and he told me to email him.
I got a bit tongue-tied, so I forgot to ask him about the rumor that he might continue the series into the 70s. If anyone else goes to a signing, will you please ask?
Couple of pics at Instagram: 1 2. Also posted a little bit at the spoilery thread.
