The only publisher for the US version is Crown. Little Brown and Co are publishers of only the UK edition.

Volume 1? It starts in 1845 with their earliest ancestor’s emigration to Liverpool, and ends on December 31, 1962, right on the cusp of it all.

Okay- thanks. Looking through this thread had me mixed up a little too, should I go for the US or UK version?
And sorry if this is more obvious than I seem to think, it’s early in the am here – and my son had friends over playing video games all night – I’m kinda fuzzy at the moment

This may be wrong but here is my understanding of it all.
The UK Standard is shorter than the US Standard which is shorter than the UK deluxe which might be issued in the US around February 2014 time (50th Anniversary tap in?). If not then im back to the intro page.

Ah – thanks for that. The odd page counts I mentioned earlier confused me, but it might just be the local seller mixing up their listings, I’ll probably take a punt at the Crown version then, and hope the seller has their stocks sorted. A$40 with free postage is pretty good for a 900 page or so hardcover.

^^ Wow!
This makes me look terrible. I’m in the more money than sense with no patience category.

What about the “Have you got family who will get you it for Christmas if you badger them enough for a while and/or ask nicely and then promise you’ll shut up about it” option? I think a few people will be doing down that route to see if they can get the deluxe.

Yes, parlance could make that option for those with patience and no money. Or for those with no money period, no matter what their patience level is.

It worked for me, I’m a 33 (almost 34) year old man but my mum and dad have known about my Beatles obsession since birth (hell, it’s THEIR fault for playing me their records! ) so they’ve already ordered me the Deluxe for Christmas. I’ve got no shame about that

It doesn’t work for me. “Are you in the UK or in the US but have lots of patience?” I’m in the UK but it’s telling me to wait for the US deluxe edition (not a chance).

Oh, right, I see the wording is weird. It was meant to direct you to the UK edition if you’re in the UK. I’ll fix that later.

The US deluxe edition hasn’t even been confirmed as truly happening, has it? In any event, I did read Mark saying that the deluxe isn’t limited edition anyway, so there won’t be a shortage if people wait to save up money for it.

Depends on how hardcore a fan you are, I guess. If you’re in the US, the US edition will be about 1000 pages. The UK deluxe edition will be about 2000 pages. I’m currently reading the UK non-deluxe edition, which is ~950 pages, and I’m in disbelief that Mark has uncovered even MORE stuff that expands it to 2000 pages in the deluxe, as I’ve already learned a ton of new things in the UK “normal” edition just in the first 300 pages…
