What country are you in? I’m in Australia and usually that message means that it is not available to purchase in your Country. Maybe try direct from website as not sure if app allows kindle purchasing.
Also just seen on Amazon.co.uk it looks like the deluxe has been broken down in to two volumes at 19.99 pounds each. Some reason only the first volume is online at the moment, however searching from the app it shows two.

Edit – curious, just looking at the title on Amazon.com it says it is Part one – Volume one also. I hope they are not breaking it up as well. At least I have preordered so Amazon should honour the preorder for the full volume at that price.

I’m in the US. Amazon told me you might have gotten lucky and seen an active link before it was supposed to go up. They told me September 20 is when they’re scheduled to take pre-orders on the deluxe edition. Meanwhile, the guy told me to keep checking the link in case it’s made available again.

Huh. Wonder why the US site would make it available in another country but not in the US.

For as excited as I am about this book, the multiple formats (why can’t it just be one version EVERYWHERE?) and confusion over it all is really starting to grate on me.

The fact that I can either pay $25 for 1200 pages in the US or $200 for 1800 pages from the UK is pretty f*****g stupid, if you ask me. Why, as an American Beatle fan, do I get less book? Or have to pay an exorbitant amount? Even my friends who like in the UK are complaining about how expensive it is…is the ink it’s printed with mixed with real Beatle blood? Unless it comes with multiple CDs and DVDs of rarities (which it doesn’t, I’m just using as an example), how is that price justified? And why does one territory get 1800 pages, the US gets 1200, and the rest of the world gets 800? Why doesn’t everyone just get 1800?
Very stupid formatting. Not sure if it’s Lewisohn’s doing or the publisher’s, but it’s beyond asinine.

^ I think it’s the publisher. I remember upthread someone quoted Lewisohn’s frustration with the cost of the deluxe edition.

If that’s the case, I’d hope they (publisher) lose enough money at that price that they’re forced to lower it to a reasonable level.

You can order the 1800 page one from the UK…it’ll just cost you 8)
Kindle is Amazon’s eBook format (the same way iBooks is Apple’s).

This is what I’m saying.

It’ll cost me what? Is that a typo?
Oh okay. I had no clue. That whole Amazon thing with all those options looks pretty confusing to me. Then again, I’m not very bright at the moment.

No, that’s a saying when something is going to be expensive, you say “it’ll cost you.” Sorry, I forget that even though we all speak English on here, some of the little sayings might not be as well known elsewhere…my apology!

I can’t tell you what in euro’s, but the sterling price is, at the moment, £120.
However, get ready for this folks, the Kindle price for the 1800 page extended version is… £19.99!

That settles that, then! Although you can’t download UK Kindle books in the US…I’ve tried . But I’ll stick with my US hard copy and buy the Kindle UK edition somehow. Stupid publisher!
Well, roughly, if 120 pounds is (approximately) $185, then in Euros that’d be around 140, wouldn’t it?

Despite the £100 difference there is no question in my head which way to go. There is a far far greater, more succulent joy in owning a book over a computer copy, the smell upon first opening, the delight in holding it and feeling the pages – all that goes and is lost with a mobile device version. I have the vinyl stereo lps box and the book in that is gorgeous; I still get blown away when looking at it. How much would be lost if it was a pdf file? Its more than just a read.

^That is true, but for some of us who are a little strapped financially, spending $50 to have the US hard copy and UK Kindle version is easier than spending $200 for the UK hardcopy…
