So, after spending a while asserting he’d never write about George, Philip Norman has bowed to the inevitable and written a book about George, entitled “George Harrison : The Reluctant Beatle,” which will be out October 24 from Simon & Schuster.

I really like his McCartney book. It is over a 1000 pages long and I already have read it twice. He tells this epic, sprawling, decade-long story like a gripping novel, and if it wasn’t for his description how Paul got the idea for the name Wings, I’d probably not included Wings in my Beatles tattoo. The two things that bugged me though where the 56 overly dramatic foreshadowings to Pauls Japan arrest and how Norman sidelines George as a self-serious dude and inferior songwriter to Paul.

Yes, so I’m a bit skeptical about this new book. I hope he’s seen the light about George, much like he did about Paul. But if he hasn’t, I’ll be furious.
