Anyways, I was lucky enough to find my copy of “Chronicle” (1992 edition) in the remaindered section of the bookstore for a mere $10 back around 2005 or so, and wish I didn’t feel the need to buy this new updated one when it shows up. But I do, of course. So much new information/new recordings have come to light since the original publication.
Wait a minute, have I missed something? Is the Chronicle being updated?

Probably won’t have much agreement here, but I wish the reprint wasn’t done on that sort of glossy paper (which Father McCartney says it has.) I hate that stuff – it makes the book too heavy and reflects light too easily, rendering it unreadable from certain angles. What’s wrong with plain old pulpy paper?
Generally I agree, Von Bontee, if we’re talking about text. However, the Complete Recording Seesions has photos – some of them exquisite – on just about every page, which I think are better served by a glossier paper.
As for e-readers – it’s horses-for-courses, but personally they’re not my bag. There’s nothing more relaxing for me than reading from paper and ink. Also, reading is in no small part about escapeism for me and therefore I really don’t want to read from something that tells me I have emails waiting!
I didn’t realise until relatively recently, but many of the photos in Sessions are from the Beatles Book Monthly. When I bought a complete set of the magazines I was surprised by how many photos I’d seen in the book.

Oh yeah, I had a few copies of that a while back and don’t know what happened to them. Some of the pics are lovely. I think quite a few – particularly of vinyl records, recording sheets etc – are Lewisohn’s own.
I’d be surprised if Lewisohn updates/revises his other books as he’s already intimated that he’ll be at work on All These Years into his seventies, probably on a punishing schedule. I wonder if he ever gets sick of the Beatles? I adore them, but sometimes gorge myself on them and find I need a break for a short while – surely he must feel like that now and again!

I got this book as a gift for Christmas 1989, and I spent HOURS reading through all the sessions and tracks they laid down in the wee hours of the morning at Abbey Road . I was 17 years old, coming of age, and growing up a Beatles fan! Love this book, and I still have it…

It’s a keeper all right – I just started it a while ago and am very impressed.
Nice to see your second post as well
