Cool read. Thanks for sharing AG.

I wonder how much her copy of She Loves You would go for? And would love to hear that  interview George gave for local radio before the Beatles made it, maybe the newspaper article survives as well.

Dear @meanmistermustard ,

At your prompting, I have been working on this project for two months for you, @Joe , and all the wonderful people here on the Beatles Bible forum. The interview was not taped, but the newspaper article has survived. I have been in contact with Matt Donkin, the Superintendent of Schools for the area where Marcia went to school. I told him about the spectacular treasure his school district had to offer the world. He located a copy of the newspaper in a private collection and scanned the article to me.

I offer this gift to the Beatles Bible. We are the first to have this treasure to display on the internet.

@Ahhh Girl what a find! Thank you so much for sharing that.

I loved the part about J&P having written enough songs to last until 1975! Let’s see, 12 more years at a present pace of 2 albums per year…makes my head hurt.

Incidentally, the day it was published was my 21st day of existence. I was not yet known as Zig.a-hard-days-night-george-10

Fantastic sleuthing, AG!

I love that George is described in the article as short. I remember reading that he once told a fan that it was the Beatles boots that made them appear tall.

Wow!! Thanks so much @Ahhh Girl for all the hard work and effort in searching for and posting that article here – and please pass on my gratitude to all those involved in the process.

Love reading all the old clippings that were being written before they made it and then whilst together in the Sixties. Those last two words “it’s catching” carries so much in hindsight but at the time i wonder if they were added just to ensure it was a positive report considering the Beatles singles and album had done nothing at the time.

Great job, AG!  Thank you for doing that for all of us here at BB :)

I enjoyed reading the article too.  Also love the part about their having songs written until 1975.  So cool.

That is fabulous. Well done @Ahhh Girl!

It’s a shame Marcia didn’t think to include any direct quotes – just goes to show how they had no idea of the importance of the group back then.

Thanks all. I’m glad you like it.

@Ron Nasty ‘s In My Life has more “thanks”. What an awesome job he did showing us around the places in that song. I just remember him getting lots of well-deserved thanks for those posts.

The mods don’t have a way to look up which posts have the most thanks. I don’t know if Joe does. But, I don’t think we need to get into doing that comparison type stuff. We all do it for the good of the community. I only answered this time because you asked. I don’t think we want to continue forward with the “who got the most…”

Yeah, i don’t think bringing in competition into posts and the number of thanks they get (and it would end up happening, human nature and all that) is of any benefit to the forum. Folks should be posting because they want to contribute to the forum not to get a specific number of thank you’s and beat someone else.

If folks want a bit of fun competition there is the post counts, as seen by Anna and Mr Kite’s race to the rooftop.

I got Louise’s book in the mail today. It’s been so long since I ordered it, I’d completely forgotten. It’s signed and I got #6 of 500. Wow, I’m impressed I jumped on it so quickly, lol.

It was alright up until they said she does a rant about Santa Claus.

Hey Louise, leave Santa alone! What did he ever do to you?

I thought when the book first came out it looked very amateurishly designed, especially the cover and now the editing has been criticised, I don’t think I’ll get the book.

I’m afraid to admit I haven’t started on my copy yet. But it does sound like the first 9 chapters are worth it, or at least a rental from the library.

Hmm… I was going to get this book at some point as I thought it would offer another side to the story in regards to George and the Beatles, but that review has really put me off.

@parlance have you began it yet, by any chance? I’m interested to know what you’ll make of it.
