I’ve seen the claim elsewhere that it’s an issue of LOOK from 1967.
It can’t date any earlier than July 1968 as the cover photograph of John and Yoko was taken on 1 July at the opening of their first joint art show, You Are Here, at the Robert Fraser Gallery in London.
Given much of the magazine is about the Yellow Submarine film, and that its copyright is claimed by King Features and Subafilms, the makers of the film, I would suggest it’s a promotional item — possibly given away free inside a magazine around the time of the film’s UK July release or the November US release.
There is certainly no evidence to suggest it was an issue of LOOK magazine simply because of its copyright being assigned to the film production companies rather than LOOK, and it doesn’t — ahem! — look like an issue of LOOK:
That isn’t to say it isn’t something that might not have been given away free with a copy of LOOK.
My belief is that it’s a promotional item for the Yellow Submarine film, but don’t quote me on that.
Not something I’ve seen before so it could be that it’s a rare item.
