Make any progress on this?
I’m loving it! Have just finished reading all about the Casbah Coffee Club. I didn’t know all the original things are still in the cellar. I went there years ago (sneaking round the back to take a photo) and had no idea what still lay within. I simply MUST go and visit it now, but it says “by appointment only” so I need to investigate. It’s been granted English Heritage status which is good. Think I’ll email Liverpool Tourist Board…….

Firstly, apologies to Joe and Icaramba?? for not answering their questions on the John and Pauls childhood homes forum. I honestly thought i had until i read this and mjbs comment here and realised i hadn’t.
I looked into this after people were asking about places to go in Liverpool. There is an all day tour in of Liverpool that goes to most of the important Beatle sights but more importantly, the ticket price includes entrance to John’s Menlove Avenue home, Paul’s Forthlin Road home and The Casbah Club. I thought this was a pretty good tour and i’m tempted to go on it myself and put a foreign accent on, haha
If anyone wants to check it out, the website is, and bare with me cos I’m not good at this stuff
Onward my friends, and glory for the thirty ninth!!
The website’s been down for a while now. There’s a phone number on their MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/thecasb…..coffeeclub
PaulRamon – thanks for the suggestion. The all-day tour and the four-hour one both look good. There are no prices on the site as far as I can see, unfortunately. If I ever pay a return visit to Liverpool I’ll consider it, though it’d probably be cheaper to drive up and find the places myself. The ones I really want to go to are Forthlin Road, Menlove Avenue and the Casbah.

I suppose the tours will pick up towards the end of the year. I’d rather visit with without the crowds.
mjb – The Casbah part is pretty cool. They should have added it to their business card, “The Quarrymen: available for parties, weddings, bar mitzvahs, home renovations”.
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

Joe – unless you are on the Official Tour you cannot gain access to Menlove Avenue of Forthlin Road. Been there, done it! I was the fortunate one mind, I was inside on the Tour whilst others were stood outside looking quite envious 🙂

By the official, you mean having booked it through the National Trust? I thought that was the case – I wouldn’t expect to just turn up and be let in. But just to clarify, there’s no need to go through this Beatles Tours company, is there?

No!
We booked at Speke Hall (which is where the NT tours depart from).

Told you so.
I lost my momentum at the end, but suggested tour routes are kind of useless unless you’re planning a trip. So I skimmed that part.
That’s just it, it’s whetted my appetite. I discussed with Mrs MJB last night about a trip to Liverpool in August. Rather reluctantly, she agreed! I say “Good on her”….

Finished this book last week. I really enjoyed it and would definately recommend it to anyone who is going to visit Liverpool. It is also a good source of reference to the early life of the Beatles too. Some very good interviews are to be read by local folk.
