Is there any other source on this quote other than Philip Norman’s book or Yoko? If people around Apple called Paul “John’s Princess” you would think more than one person would verify it.

Interesting question Annadog40. I’ve been reading about and researching the Beatles for about 16 years and whilst I don’t know everything (and have learned many new facts through the Beatles Bible and on trips to Liverpool!) I had never heard about this until I read the book and Yoko’ s comments. It does seem strange that no one has ever mentioned it before, especially if it was a common thing heard around the Apple offices. And considering that money can be made and headlines over something which would stir up a lot of controversy (and fuel the ‘John is gay’ rumours that have been in existence ever since the holiday with Brian). I certainly don’t trust everything Yoko says as the gospel truth, but what would her motive be for creating such a story? We need to find an ex Apple employee and give them a grilling about it!

I wouldn’t necessarily doubt Yoko claiming to have overheard other people using the phrase, or something like it. But without proper context, it can be an ambiguous thing to say. That particular phrasing could be taken to be questioning of either John’s OR Paul’s sexuality, assuming sex even enters into it. Which itself isn’t definite. And in either case, it’s more about people’s perceptions of reality, than reality itself. (And what is “reality”? etc.)

Good points Von. We’re just assuming it must mean that John had a crush on Paul but I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a common assumption at the time. Maybe (if it was really said at all) it just alluded to Paul being pretty and the 2 of them often being together. It does make me laugh though, It makes me think of Paul dressed up as a Disney princess which is pretty disturbing!

Oh it has been done. I have seen it. There are some… “creative” McLennon fans out there.

Well he is certainly very beautiful, I bet he’d make a cracking woman! Those Mclennon sites are entertaining, the depths they go to, the pictures I’ve seen can never be unseen!
Lots of photo-shopped stuff, but lots of “real” stuff too.
I don’t talk about my McLennon views much on here… not really very welcomed, which is fine by me…
I definitely have my opinion…

LHL, you’ve mentioned this “McLennon” thing (a phenomenon I was entirely unaware of until seven minutes ago) on the last two threads I visited!

I don’t know how to post links (not very good with computers!) However, just type in Mclennon on Google and lots of ‘interesting’ stuff should come up. Don’t say I didn’t warn you though!

LHL, please PM me, would love to know your opinions. I have mine but also don’t want to say too much publicly in case I embarrass myself! I bore my boyfriend with this sort of thing sometimes but would be nice to have someone who’s interested to discuss it with!

Come on and embarrass yourselves…I want to see what you have to say. Besides, I embarrass myself all the time with my John Lennon obsession.

Surely all views on all subjects should be welcomed, respected and appreciated regardless of whether or not folk agree with them – unless it goes down the normal unacceptable roads that 99% of forums would frown at, and i can’t see LHL or anyone else here holding anything like those at all. Would hate to think people can’t post and express themselves freely here.

i love mclennon as an idea and i think there might be some truth in it… it’s not only the “john’s princess”-saying (which in my opinion is very likely to be true… cuz you know, how easy people get funny nicknames), it’s also that john himself jokingly refered to paul as his ex-fiance, and the fact, that they both HATED each other’s wifes (it’s very well known that paul disliked yoko, but there are also letters from john to paul where he insults linda, and of course the line “you jump when your mumma says” (or similar) in “how do you sleep”), the john-is-gay-rumours…
the only thing is, that paul totally denies it, so we must believe him, because who could know better? and what would be his motivation to lie?

You think that is talking about them? No. I hold back immensely. I bring it up and give a light opinion of what I think.. but people get all weirded out by it so I try to not get too into it. I have read lots of kinky McLennon s**t and seen a lot of graphic fan art…. do you want me to show that and talk about it? Do you want to know about these filthy ways?
I figure it’s better suited for an actual McLennon discussion board, or PM’s.

I’ve seen this after I sent you a PM (and longbottom, explanation in PM!) That answers my question about the fanfiction! I’ve seen the fanart too and was quite shocked at first

Isn’t the point of a forum to share your views? If you feel uncomfortable, anyone, then don’t share them – but this is why we have dedicated threads
I’ve been a bit oblivious to all the Mclennon stuff and, the good lover of hard facts that I am, I’m not sure I’m entirely convinced. My knowledge of what it’s all about is tiny, though, and I refuse to google.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

It doesn’t make me uncomfortable, not many things do. I’m pretty open in that way. I don’t want to make others uncomfortable if it weirds them out, you know?
I don’t feel deprived, I have enough outlets.
