I'm a HUGE Beatles fan, and my friend has the Anthology book. She said it was pretty good, but very long. I'm willing to read through the whole thing, but I wanted to get some opinions before I spend so much money on such a big book!!a-hard-days-night-george-5

Welcome aboard, Sivon.

I really enjoyed it. It was worth the money to me. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down – even after watching all of the Anthology DVD's.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

Yes, completely worth it. You can always buy it used if price is an issue – it will read the same. My only complaint is the size. It's a bit awkward to hold.

Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

I'd say it's one of the top five Beatles books out there (and trust me, I've read a few!).

If you read a few than you haven't read five!

You could see if your local library system has it.

Yeah I just got it today from my local library, which fortunately I work at, and it is MASSIVE!

Ok, it just hard to tell sometimes. Especially with posts about this great new Beatles site they found.

Basically, it's a book telling the Beatles story from The Beatles point of view – so all quotes from JPG&R plus others directly involved. There's also a documentary, and cds of outtakes and unreleased material.

Hey, I work at a library, I'm a professional librarian, and a busy one, in fact.

I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

I do have one whinge about the book: It has lots of fantastic photos taken by The Beatles themselves but not all are captioned, so you end up thinking “where and when was THAT taken?”.

There are a few black & white photos in there (taken in 1964) and The Beatles are actually in MY TOWN. I would have been 5 1/2 years old at the time and about 1/2 mile away at school yet this was NEVER reported in the local press! I even asked in the local paper after Anthology came out, but no one replied.  They actually stopped off at a local hotel and had lunch – how the hell did this go unmentioned in a town with, a then, population of about 20,00 people????

But………it's a 'must have' for any Beatle nut 🙂

So it's not unlike the actual Anthology series thingy? Is that the documentary you're talking about? 'Cause I know I've heard of that . I've seen it… is the book just the Anthology series in… book… form?
