“John.” Cynthia Lennon (so so)
“All Those Years Ago, Miles (very good)
“John Lennon : A Life” , Norman (very good)
“The Lives of John Lennon ” Goldman (controversial, but hard to put down)
“You Never Give Me Your Money ,” Dogget (excellent!)
“Here There And Everywhere ,” Geoff Emerick (excellent!)
“All You Need Is Ears,” George Martin (good, but disappointing)
“The Making of Sgt. Pepper ,” George Martin (good)
“Ticket To Ride ,” Larry Kane (not very good)
“John, Paul, George Ring and Me,” Tony Barrow (quick, easy and good)
“The Last Cocktail Party,” that hippie dude (pretty interesting)
“The Beatles,” Spitz (tough to read, but quite informative)
“The Book on Beatles Books” (helpful)
“Wonderful Tonight,” Patti Boyd (mediocre)
“Love Me Do ,” (overrated, but much better than Kane's book)
there are more…
IN the past I've read.
The Lewisohn recording guide..
Lewisohn's Guide to the Beatles
“The Love You Make”

I lack on Beatle readings. However, I did read Miss O'Dell. Has anybody read it? It's about a woman Chris O'Dell and how she lived through the 1960s and 70s working for the Beatles, the Stones, Bob Dylan, etc. She goes on about her friendship with George, Pattie, and Mo. George wrote a song about her called Miss O'Dell. It sorta seems like a fanfiction type of book though for some reason. It only bothered me I have never heard of her in any other book or media source.
That's interesting, thanks!
I haven't heard of that one but I'll try to find it!

One thing that annoys me about this is that the book's out of print, Mark Lewisohn's not making anything from the sale, and the only person profiting is the second-hand dealer. Although I generally like to pay for things I did do a Rapidshare search to see if I could download it first, but couldn't find it ('beatles live lewisohn' gave me a load of bootleg results).
It's a shame the publishers don't keep books like this in print. Roll on Google digitising them.
I totally agree and wonder why they don't.
The Best, Pang, Shotton books are overly expensive cuz of this.

Well, I don't really have a lot of Beatles books, but enough to have a top-two:
The Beatles by Tim Hill. The pictures are gorgeous and most of them I haven't seen before. Not exactly a reading book though, it's more for the pictures.
Beatles Gear by someone whose name I do not know. Very informative and interesting, learned things I did not know about John's many instruments.
"I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?"

Most of the beatles books I have read came from my brother’s bookshelf. One that I actually own is Allan William’s The Man Who Gave the Beatles Away. Just like every other book, it has inaccuracies, but it also has interesting stories that I never heard anywhere else.
Things I liked:
Although it was written in 1975, it will never become outdated because it only focuses on the time Williams spent with the Beatles
The interseting fact that John Lennon endorsed the book.
"The world is a very serious and, at times, very sad place - but at other times it is all such a joke."-George Harrison
By all accounts Allan Williams used to make up a lot of stuff – still does, apparently. He’s more of a storyteller than a historian, but his stories are very good.

I’ve pruned what I have and have gotten rid of a lot of the “fluffy” Beatles books over the years and stick mainly to the legit books. I’ve got:
Hunter Davies’ official bio (the 1996 edition)
Revolution in the Head
Days in the Life
Shout! (2001 edition)
Anthology (hardcover)
Mark Lewisohn’s Complete Beatles Chronicle and Complete Recording sessions books
Bob Spitz’s bio (which I wasn’t as crazy about as some others…I found a LOT of factual errors and inaccuracies in it)
I’m eagerly awaiting the first volume of Lewisohn’s definitive bio, but I heard that’s been pushed back to sometime in 2013 for a springtime release (it was supposed to be out end of the year originally)

I just got a book for Sinterklaas called ”The Beatles, A History In Pictures” but that’s the literal translation from Dutch. It’s by Tim Hill and Marie Clayton
Haven’t started reading yet though.
Also, according to my mom there must be a book about Sgt Pepper and one about Let it be floating around in the attic, but in here it’s like once it gets to the attic it’s lost forever.
And I have read the Anthology, my dad once brought it with him from the library. It was huge but a good read, just translated very badly. And they also put Paul’s name somewhere where Ringo was talking, so ehh yeah..the translators weren’t all too bright.
And I was at a bookstore recently and they had a whole table covered in Beatles books so I think I may buy one. There were ”inside stories” among them too, but of course I’ve forgotten who wrote them.

Oh, a topic on Beatles book collections. Me likes!
I’ve been reading and collecting them since, well, since I started long ago. I believe the first full bio must have been a Spanish translation of the French bio Les Beatles by Alain Dister when I was a young lad. Until then, it was just the records which I knew inside out, but wasn’t so aware on the whole bio thing.
So here’s the list of the books. There are a few others I still have at my parent’s house in Spain, but probably no more than 4 or 5.
All the books are the English original editions unless stated otherwise. I’ve put the cover of the exact edition I have, except for one or two I couldn’t find online.

Nice collection, Stone…but did we really need to SEE them all?!Well, I find it useful for those among us starting their collections.
You can always skip the post if you feel it’s too long.
No, I was happy to look at them! It’s just a question of the page taking longer to load.

I heard about this a while back and I meant to get it but I haven’t got round to it yet. Is it any good?
