I think my next purchase will be Revolution in the Head.

That’s a real gem, not to be missed. It takes “A hard days Write” to the next level. It starts out with a heavy essay on the fifties and sixties (such as politics, culture and counterculture) and this gives yet another reason why something like The Beatles can never happen again in this way. As far as learning about the background of the songs, to me this the referencebook. It does not mean I agree with Ian MacDonald on everything, but that is a matter of personal taste.

^^ Yes! I love this book so hard. It was high time I owned it. I was very happy to find it waiting for me when I got home last night.

I’ve been doing some spring cleaning in the garage (what DO those spiders live on when I’m not around?) – trying to find my Rolling Stone Lennon interviews book and/or “In His Own Write” or “Spaniard”.  I know they are out there somewhere ….

Anyway, I came across a ‘Story of Pop’ special; it is titled “The Beatles Story” and is edited by Jeremy Pascall, and cost the grand sum of 60p in 1974 (well, it cost me A$1.65).  It is one of those 64 page specials that used to show up at the newsagent all the time.  Nothing too exciting in it, though some of the washed out colour photos are kinda fun, but a nice curio to add to my collection (which it has now increased by 33% from 3 books to 4) :)

I also have the Beatles Anthology and the Literary Anthology books on the way from the UK via ebay.

Now, where are those Lennon books …. sigh …

Hello all. Long time reader, first time poster. Thought I’d post a video of my Beatle books collection. How many of these have you got?

Does that vid not remind anyone of the vid posted with Mark Lewinson and all the books in the background?

And never mind a lending service fancy a lodger Joe Wiz? Like the song choice by the way, ELT is frequently overlooked (and the title of a Beatles book – a number of Beatles songs are).

Ha ha – indeed, but I wish I had something more to add to the “what did you just eat” thread than jam toast and coffee.

Back on topic, that video has me inspired – time to hit the local 2nd hand bookshops and see what I can dig up, will report back later in the week if I found any gems.

Hi Joe Wiz. This might be a silly questions, but do you know which version of the new Lewisohn book you are going to buy? Are you waiting for it with baited breath like so many of us are?

Just added Pete Shotton’s book to my collection. I was surprised to find a used copy relatively cheap.

My shopping trip went quite well, I bought ‘Shout!” by Philip Norman (which I understand is quite a controversial book – some love it and some, well, don’t).

I also picked up the 2CD Amnesty Lennon thingy for only $8 – which seems to have folks in much the same mind as the book.

While I think of it, they also had the Alan Clayson books 2nd hand – the ones with a separate book on each Beatle – I would appreciate some thoughts on those.

Ha ha – going fishing are we?  I only ask because, being an old codger, ‘baited’ instead of ‘bated’ still looks odd (and yes, I know, it is increasingly being used that way).

A fine day indeed.

I read “Shout” before I joined this forum. I hope it didn’t warp me in some yet-to-show-itself way.

Just got a book by Mike Evans, 224 pages, just called “The Beatles” for A$10.  I assume it is the same guy who put the Literary Anthology together.  Does anyone know anything about him?

This grows my collection to a massive 9 books, counting 2 on the way :)

It would be more if I could find the 2 Lennon books in the garage – the spiders out there have me beat so far.
