John Lennon : The Life by Philip Norman…here’s my review of the book –> http://rnrchemist.blogspot.com…..-life.html
I know it divides a lot of fans but overall, I think it’s great and the best book on John’s life that’s available. Now, I’m really looking forward to his upcoming pseudo-authorized bio on Paul…

Paul McCartney : Many Years From Now…here’s my review –> http://rnrchemist.blogspot.com…..years.html
Finally, I was able to re-read this book for the first time in ages, so it was fresh in my head for this review. My thoughts on it haven’t changed: it’s a great book and the most open and honest Paul has been about his partnership with John. I get why many have criticized his tone in the book but I have no problem with it…it’s who he is and he doesn’t mean it badly and I think he was right to defend himself and try to set the facts right. A fascinating glimpse into the day-to-day life of 1960s Swinging London, too.
Who here has read it? What did you think?

Huh, I need to update this more often! Newest Beatles-related ones since the last time…
Philip Norman’s new Paul bio, which I actually liked, flaws and all…not perfect, and not as good as his Lennon book, but still got the job (mostly) done for me. A lot of fans hated it, and a lot loved it. I’m somewhere in the middle, but leaning more toward “really liked” (but definitely not loved!). –> http://rnrchemist.blogspot.com…..-life.html
Keeping on that Philip Norman fellow, I also just (as in this morning) posted my review of the (in)famous first comprehensive Beatles bio, Shout!, by Philip Norman –> http://rnrchemist.blogspot.com…..their.html
Not nearly as bad as I remember it or as it’s been made out to be, but also still full of examples of why it received much of that reception from the Beatles fan community in the first place!

A fantastic book…one of the rare essential Beatles books –>

The crazy thing is that it took me so long to review it. I’ve had it for years and have read it multiple times, but for some weird reason I never got around to reviewing it until now. I gave it a fresh re-reading for this review and enjoyed it (and still learning some new bits) as much as I did the first time.
I’m sure several of you on here have read it, so let’s discuss!
