I am not a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I just love Brain Damage.
“Brain Damage”
The lunatic is on the grass
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs
Got to keep the loonies on the path
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forbodings too
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon
The lunatic is in my head
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me ’till I’m sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There’s someone in my head but it’s not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon
“I can’t think of anything to say except…
I think it’s marvelous! HaHaHa!”
Edit: The page I got the lyrics from ^ wrote that, but it is pretty marvelous. lol Also with me not being a much of a Pink Floyd fan I didn’t know there were two different songs that are played together, sort of like SPLHB and WALHFM getting played together. I just use to it all playing together. So, I will add Eclipse lyrics:
All that you touch and all that you see
all that you taste, all you feel
and all that you love and all that you hate
all you distrust, all you save
and all that you give and all that you deal
and all that you buy, beg, borrow or steal
and all you create and all you destroy
and all that you do and all that you say
and all that you eat and everyone you meet
and all that you slight and everyone you fight
and all that is now and all that is gone
and all that’s to come and everything under the sun is in tune
but the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Such a lovely day to carry on your shoulders
It turned from blue to grey and you seem so much older
But its worth all the money in the world to find a way back to normal
If there’s such a place
The doctor called your name and things became so sober
I suppose the price we’ll pay will be worth it when it’s over
But it takes every effort to believe in the unseen when you see clearly
That thing’s are not okay
Well I know you are frightened, and I know you are angry
And I know you tired of the unknown
But I am beside you, and I will remind you
That you don’t have to go it alone
Seems a tailor made sickness for your sins dear
If you planned your life away we never would be standing here
But with an impending bitter end
You have learned the lesson how
The sweet is in the now
Well I know you are frightened, and I know you are angry
And I know you tired of the unknown
But I am beside you, and I will remind you
That you don’t have to go it alone
Alone, Alone, We are not alone, Alone, Alone, Never, Not alone
There are no guarantees, no promise they can make us
Our faith’s a fighting seed planted deep in desperate trust
I will take every moment I can get
And won’t regret I share your name
To Love is worth the pain

Neat thread! Does Sir Paul’s “Here Today ” count as non-Beatle lyrics? Because that’s probably my all-round favourite lyric.
Here (Today) they are:
And if I said I really knew you well, what would you answer me?
If you were here today, ooo, here today.
Knowing you, you’d prob’ly laugh and say that we were worlds apart,
If you were here today, ooo, here today.
But as for me, I still remember how it was before,
And I am holding back the tears, now, oh.
I love you, ooo.
What about the time we met,
When I suppose that you could say that we were playing hard to get?
Didn’t understand a thing,
But we could always sing.
What about the night we cried,
Because there wasn’t any reason left to keep it all inside?
Never understood a word,
But you were always there with a smile.
And if I said I really loved you and was glad you came along,
If you were here today, ooo, here today,
For you were in my song.
Ooo, here today.
Oh, the feels…

There’s an irony to this, it was actually written by Joni Mitchell, who could only watch televised snippets of the festival itself. and yet wrote something so powerful that it summed up the whole motive for it. And speaking of Joni, here is a lyric from Song to a Seagull, Marcie. Rips my heart out every time I hear it (which is carefully not often):
Marcie in a coat of flowers
Steps inside a candy store
Reds are sweet and greens are sour
Still no letter at her door
So she’ll wash her flower curtains
Hang them in the wind to dry
Dust her tables with his shirt and
Wave another day goodbye
Marcie’s faucet needs a plumber
Marcie’s sorrow needs a man
Red is autumn green is summer
Greens are turning and the sand
All along the ocean beaches
Stares up empty at the sky
Marcie buys a bag of peaches
Stops a postman passing by
And summer goes
Falls to the sidewalk like string and brown paper
Winter blows
Up from the river there’s no one to take her
To the sea
Marcie dresses warm its snowing
Takes a yellow cab uptown
Red is stop and green’s for going
Sees a show and rides back down
Down along the Hudson River
Past the shipyards in the cold
Still no letter’s been delivered
Still the winter days unfold
Like magazines
Fading in dusty grey attics and cellars
Make a dream
Dream back to summer and hear how
he tells her
Wait for me
Marcie leaves and doesn’t tell us
Where or why she moved away
Red is angry green is jealous
That was all she had to say
Someone thought they saw her Sunday
Window shopping in the rain
Someone heard she bought a one-way ticket
And went west again

“So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you’re older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I’d something more to say.”

This Song’s Just Six Words Long – ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic
(A parody of Got My Mind Set On You covered by one Mr Harrison. Little Girl hates it. I love it.)
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words longCouldn’t think of any lyrics
No I never wrote the lyrics
So I’ll just sing any old lyrics
That come to mind, childYou really need words
Whole lotta rhyming words
You gotta rhyme so many words, mm-mm
To do it, to do it, to do it, to do it
To do it, to do it right, childThis song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words longI know that you’re probably sore
‘Cause I didn’t write any more
I just didn’t get to complete it
So that’s why I gotta repeat itThis song is just six words long (six words long)
This song is just six words long (six words long)Oh I make a lotta money
They pay me a ton of money
They’re payin’ me plenty of money
To sing this song, childI gotta fill time
Three minutes worth of time
Oh, how will I fill so much time, mm-mm
I’ll throw in a solo, a solo, a solo
A solo, a solo hereThis song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words long
This song is just six words longThis song’s got nothin’ to say
But I’m recording it anyway
I know if I put my mind to it
I know I could find a good rhyme hereOh, you gotta have-a music
You need really catchy music
This song has got plenty of music
But just six words, childAnd so I’ll sing’ em over
And over and over and over
And over and over and over, mm-mm
And over and over and over
And over and over and over againSix words long, six words long
Six words long, six words long
Six words long, six words longThis song is just six words long
It’s just six words long

And by the by, I agree with @Egroeg Evoli. I love ‘Time’– it might even be my all-round favourite P.F. song.
Here is the first bit if anyone’s interested:
Ticking away at the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Picking around on a piece of round in your hometown,
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
Ten years have gone behind you,
No one told you when to run,
You missed the starting gun.
*insert awesome guitar solo here*
and then it’s the verses Egroeg-Evoli posted above.
It’s so ridiculously true it’s ridiculous… love Pink Floyd.

Some fantastic songs have been mentioned already. Love Pink Floyd!
Okay, brace yerselves *cracks knuckles*
Another Pink Floyd one, Echoes:
”Cloudless every day you fall upon my waking eyes
Inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Come streaming in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning
And no one sings me lullabies
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky.”
And yes, that ”inviting and inciting me” bit was inspired by All Across The Universe !
This will mostly be a few lines rather than a complete song, but oh well:
”Breathe out, so I can breathe you in.”-Foo Fighters-Everlong
”God only knows what I’d be without you
(God only knows what I’d be without you)
If you should ever leave me well life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me”
Beach Boys –God Only Knows
All of Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel
All of Annie’s Song by John Denver. These two are songs that make me want to bawl my eyes out.
All of Scarborough Fair and The Sound Of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel
”I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be Heroes, just for one day”
David Bowie-Heroes
”Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones. And I will try to fix you” Coldplay-Fix You
“I was looking for a job, and then I found a job. And heaven knows, I’m miserable now.
In my life, why do I give valuable time to people who don’t care if I live or die?”
The Smiths-Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now (so relatable)
“Please allow me to introduce myself, I’m a man of wealth and taste.
I’ve been around for a long, long year, stole many a man’s soul and faith.”
Rolling Stones-Sympathy For The Devil
I know Noel Gallagher isn’t really a great songwriter and most of his songs are a bit cobbled together, but most of them have some good lines, plus Oasis is one of my favourite bands:
”Today is just a daydream, tomorrow we’ll be cast away”-Oasis-Fade in-Out
”What tongueless ghost of sin crept through my curtains?
Sailing on a sea of sweat on a stormy night
I think he don’t got a name but I can’t be certain
And in me he starts to confide”
&
”’My pulse pumps out a beat to the ghost dancer
And my eyes are dead and my throat’s like a black hole
And if there’s a God would he give another chancer
An hour to sing for his soul”
Oasis-Gas Panic!
”Do you keep the receipts for the friends that you buy?” Oasis-Where Did It All Go Wrong?
”I followed the stars and I sailed to the sun, and held it in my fingers” Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds-Ballad Of The Mighty I
”Wake up the dawn and ask her why. A dreamer dreams, she never dies.”- Oasis-Champagne Supernova (even though the rest of it’s lyrics are nonsense of the highest order)
”Woke up sleeping on a train that was bound for nowhere
the echoes that I could heard were all my own
the world had turned and I’d become a stranger
And I’m tired of watching all the flowers turn to stone”
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds-The Dying Of The Light

”Breathe out, so I can breathe you in.”-Foo Fighters-Everlong
That line reminds me of yet another Pink Floyd:
Breathe
Breathe, breathe in the air
Don’t be afraid to care,
Leave, but don’t me
Look around, choose your own ground.
For long you live and high you fly
The smiles you’ll give and tears you’ll cry,
All you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.Run, rabbit, run,
Dig that hole, forget the sun
When at last the work is done,
Don’t sit down, it’s time to dig another one
For long you live and high you fly,
But only if you ride the tide.
Balanced on the biggest wave,
You race towards an early grave.
YAYYYY Let’s flood this thread with P.F. awesomeness!

Whoops, my first post here in months is about a British classic rock band that isn’t the Beatles
But here we go with the PF flood
[Okay I can’t put the entire song “Dogs” in here but all of those lyrics]
[Also can’t put all of “Pigs (Three Different Ones)” or all of “Sheep” but pretend they’re here too]
Here is a snippet of “Sheep”
“Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream”
[Also all of the lyrics to “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”]
I’m going to end up doing this for every PF song ever because I can’t find anything specific because the entirety of every song is amazing lyrically and I can’t just post all PF lyrics so I’ll just quit while I’m ahead
Okay one more
From “Comfortably Numb”:
“When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone”

Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone home?
Come on, now, I hear your feeling, down
Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen

Hey @Egroeg Evoli , nice to see you around again lately. Animals is my favorite PF album. Good to see another fan of it.
From ‘Pigs’:
You’re nearly a good laugh

You’re hot stuff with a hat pin

Ready for more irony? Joni did not appear at the Woodstock festival because her people were afraid that if she did make to the concert, she may not be able to get back out in time to honor her appearance on The Dick Cavett Show the next day. While she was on the show, Stephen Stills and David Crosby showed up having left Woodstock that morning…dressed in the same clothes they wore at the concert, mud and all. Seems they got out just fine, if just a little worse for wear. Here is the vid. There are other vids of the entire show broken up into segments. A little slice of rock and roll history, if that interests you.

‘Me & My Uncle’
Grateful Dead
Me and my uncle went ridin’ down
South Colorado, West Texas bound
We stopped over in Santa Fe
That bein’ the point just about half way
You know it was the hottest part of the day
I took the horses up to the stall
Went to the barroom, ordered drinks for all
Three days in the saddle, you know my body hurt
It bein’ summer, I took off my shirt
And I tried to wash off some of that dusty dirt
West Texas cowboys, they’s all around
With liquor and money, they loaded down
So soon after payday, know it seemed a shame
You know my uncle, he starts a friendly game
High-low jack and the winner take the hand
My uncle starts winnin’, cowboys got sore
One of them called him and then two more
Accused him of cheatin’, oh no, it couldn’t be
I know my uncle, he’s as honest as me
And I’m as honest as a Denver man can be
One of them cowboys, he starts to draw
I shot him down, Lord, but he never saw
Shot me another, oh damn, he won’t grow old
In the confusion, my uncle grabbed the gold
And we high-tailed it down to Mexico
I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Loved my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, I grabbed that gold
And I left his dead ass there by the side of the road
