When the fab logo at the top become wallpaper because you’ve seen it in all its versions so many times…
though I admit, I sometimes notice it if it’s the one from AHDN , which is my favourite. Or Revolver , of course.
And, of course, as soon as I say this, I start noticing the logos again because I just noticed them when I noticed I wasn’t noticing them anymore…
Also, when you occasionally click on one of the ads for the sole reason that you know @Joe gets a few pennies from it. (What?! I never shop at Amazon or iTunes. Or anywhere online, for that matter.)
Edit: And when you put it in your profile: @Beatlebug

I guess I’m a Softcore Beatles Bibler…
Sure, I have a lot of postings (and topics) built up over the years (under my former moniker “Funny Paper”), but somehow I don’t feel like I’ve crossed that ineffable sound barrier of fandomship that some have.
Related question: Does “hardcore Beatles Bibler” automatically = “Beatlemaniac”? Or is the latter an even more intense & elite level to attain…?

I think they’re sort of separate. Neither is higher than the other really, although I suppose you do have to be pretty mad about the Beatles to be a Beatles Bibler.

Yes, some people have mentioned that The Beatles aren’t their #1 besties, but they have found a safe haven here on the forum. Forumpudlians living the kind of life The Beatles inspire. Love and acceptance.

And some people join in the midst of their Beatle obsession, then as time goes by, the madness abates, but they still frequent the forum because it’s such a lovely place.

One thing going on with me is that most of the songs that form the Beatles corpus are no longer like living flames to me; they are more like treasured mementos I keep in a treasure chest up in the attic, which in the last couple of decades or so I only go to the trouble of opening up to enjoy once in a blue moon. I read so many comments here on BB that show that for most of y’all, the songs are still living concerns that you listen to, think about, talk about, sing to, etc., on a nearly daily basis. I hate to say it, but for me they long ago became kind of precious museum relics behind the glass cases of my memory (which I suppose is better than apathetic indifference and thinking “Katy Perry” or “Taylor Swift” is better…).
For the most part; except…
Up to two years ago, I felt so much this way that I thought I would never revisit the vast majority of the Beatles songs; but then about two Springs ago, I became interested in listening to some A Hard Day’s Night songs, then soon enough others followed (Help !, Magical Mystery Tour , Sergeant Pepper’s, the White Album ). Part of it was curiosity about so many issues, debates, disagreements, and interesting details I kept picking up from BBers here. Another thing was I just got a sudden desire to learn some of the chords and bass lines – starting with “I Need You ”, then branching out into many others (including a delightful exploration of “Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand “).
So the Spring of 2013 was kind of a magical time for me. Don’t know if that will happen again in quite the same way…

You have endless debates on whether or not the track sequencing on side 1 of Sgt. Pepper was a good idea (oh yeah, I’ve been there)

We are so glad you are still around, Zig. If you’d left the forum at some point, it would be so hard seeing all your old posts and never getting the chance to get to know you and interact with you on the forum.

Thanks vonbontee!
I also was going to mention that for me, a big part of keeping music alive is having songs to play along with (on my acoustic guitar or Latin percussion), and it just so happens there’s hardly nothing in the Beatles repertoire I enjoy playing along with — except Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da .
McCartney’s solo stuff, however, contains numerous songs I continue to enjoy accompanying, from Ram up to Band On The Run for sure; the Ringo solo album from 1973; and Lennon’s Mind Games album. So that whole swath of music from yesteryear (they are all in the 70s) remains quite alive for me.

So you’ve spent the last year-or-so just ignoring the Beatles and enjoying your Santana and Chicago records? 😀

When you begin to figure out how to navigate the forum efficiently and it doesn’t intimidate you into never creating a new topic.
And when you know what time-zones most of your fellow BBers are in and are able to wonder what they’re doing online at 3 a.m.
