To be fair they werent that good before the semi finals but the lose of Neymar (and Silva against Germany) has turned them from decent to dreadful. Sad days.
Indeed – but even with Silva back they were not much better – an average team which got found out. The ref made some odd decisions on penalties, but Brazil should have been down to 10 so hard to say if it affected the result. I think the better team won.

I’m very proud of the fact we ended up being third. No one expected that to happen with this team, mainly consisting out of new guys. Good for both Blind and Wijnaldum that they scored. Especially Wijnaldum, since he was doing crap.
Wasn’t that impressed with the referee though. To me it seemed he did everything to let Brazil win. Ha, didn’t succeed. Especially the first time Robben was attacked bothered me, that totally should’ve been a red card. And when Kuyt’s head was bleeding, nothing happened. Not a card, nothing. I couldn’t believe that. Ah well, we won anyway.
I felt very sorry for the Brazilian team though, must be hard being booed by your own country.
I also watched the commentary afterwards, with the interviews. They interviewed Vlaar (what a guy, such a good defender) and next to him was one of the Brazilian players, I found that very sportive of him.
There was also a little hype on Twitter about our goalie, Jasper Cillessen. At one point of the game he was sitting against the goal, and people started photoshopping that pose on things. It was all under the hashtag #jaspercillessensitsonthings or something like that. It was pretty hilarious.
Not going to watch the finals tonight. I’m pretty sure German will win.

As someone with very little interest in football, and from a non-participating country; but who still wanted to tune in for a bit of the excitement, I certainly couldn’t ask for a better opportunity than overtime of the final game! But dammit, this thing better end with a real goal, not some shootout abomination.

AAARRGH i look down for a second at my laptop and somebody SCOORREES and I miss it! I look up and some guy in white is celebrating. And I had headphones on so I didn’t even hear the commentator getting excited and look up and see any of it! Bloody hell.
EDIT: Oh wait, they’re still playing? I thought this was sudden-death overtime. Shows my ignorance even more – I guess they play till the end of the half-hour or something, right? OK, another 14 minutes or so for Argentina to tie it up again. Come on boys…(not supporting Argentina, I just want some more OT action. As long as it’s not a shootout)

What a frustrating game to watch (due in part to a stuttery stream). But also glad it didn’t end in a penalty shootout.

Yeah, my looking down and missing the decisive goal is preferable to being confronted with a penalty-shootout victory.

It was a very nice winning goal as well – though Argentina missed some really good scoring opportunities.
Now I can start to focus on the REAL football which starts in a few weeks, after the lads get back from a pre-season tour of the USA

It wasn’t a great game, but nor was it a bad one. So glad it didn’t go down to penalties. Penalties are really no better than a coin toss. The Germans deserved it in the end as the better team, rather than what we saw with too many countries this time around – weak teams with one or two standout players. Germany were a team. And, in the end, they gave us the most unexpected and thrilling 90 minutes of the whole tournament – it just wasn’t the final. We can’t have everything!

I have to say that the texture on the trophy makes it looks hideous and even creepy.

Even though I said I wasn’t going to watch it, I did it anyway.
Congratulations to Germany on winning. I missed the goal as I’d just gone upstairs to my room as I thought it would end up with penalties and I wasn’t interested in that. I can’t say it was very exciting though.
I felt so sorry for Schweinsteiger, man, what a guy. Constantly falling and bleeding. What a hero.
Did you guys see that Golden Ball thing? Messi won it, and like many others, I think it wasn’t deserved. I’m not saying Arjen Robben should’ve won it, but there were plenty of other good players who have done more for their teams during this World Cup. We haven’t seen much of Messi in the last few games Argentina played. Also, just the way he looked at that trophy! So ungrateful. I mean, I can imagine you’re disappointed because you ended up being second, but you did win a prize for best player, which is pretty awesome too, right? It didn’t mean anything to him. He looked pretty empty anyway. The other players were crying or at least you could see they were disappointed, but Messi kind of looked like a robot.

Robben and all the divers (ruling out most of the Brazil side) should have been excluded from the running of Player of the Tournament as something needs to be done. Same as with getting a slight tap on the knee and going down holding their face and rolling around like they have been shot.
