I hate Arcade Fire; it’s just annoying to me.. In other news I’m surprised at the hate directed towards Pink Floyd. They actually have a Beatles reference in one of their songs, I think on a Saucerful of Secrets somewhere. (edit: it’s Let There Be More Light, so I was right.) Rhyming with style.
I also dislike most of the pop out there whose names I don’t need to mention. In fact, they don’t deserve to be mentioned. I also hate Jet , because they’ve ripped off of the Beatles and the White Stripes shamelessly. My friends seem to enjoy dubstep a lot, but I myself got sick of it pretty quickly, especially when it’s loud. I’d rather listen to the garbage disposal, to be honest.
I feel like I’m forgetting some, though.

Jet … They are so ridiculously evil, but not for ripping off the Beatles. They totally ripped off the Canadian band Sloan. Sloan had them as openers years ago and then Jet copied absolutely everything about them and achieved international success because they had major-label money, while Sloan was and is still an indie band.
Arcade Fire is one of those bands that people love, but whom I simply do not “get”. I just hear dull music. I think Pink Floyd hate comes from ignorance, most of the time. PF is a band that needs to be appreciated in chronological order. And let’s face it: If you get high, it makes WAY more sense. The earlier stuff (1967-1971) is psychedelic music in the purest.

Thankfully, Jet broke up this year. I find it difficult to respect them because Screwdriver (the song they ripped) is a favorite of mine, in general. I can see why people have problems with Led Zeppelin doing the same thing, but I feel they’re like the Beatles where they simply did it BETTER. Holmes said “let them have it” when he heard their version of Dazed and Confused (though I saw some lawsuits from him occured recently). Whole Lotta Love is considered one of their best songs when you shelf Stairway To Heaven. (offtopic, I like Battle of Evermore, myself) Also, about Pink Floyd, you are definitely right about listening in chronological order. Meddle is an overlooked album that actually came right before Dark Side. I’m surprised Animals isn’t more overlooked considering the albums it’s between.

I adore ‘Meddle’. It took me years to appreciate it properly, and I’ll totally own up to the fact that it’s truly one of those albums that is best experienced while high. Side one builds so incredibly and inventively with the driving and experimental “One Of These Days” and the criminally overlooked “Fearless”. “Echoes” is more than just a precurser to ‘DSotM’, it’s a real work of pure imagination.

I can’t think of a specific band I “hate”. However, my sister says the meanest things about the Beatles, so I tell her, “I hate the bands that you like”. So really anything my sister likes, I hate.

Most of the artists/bands I hate are recent pop artists/bands, especially some in particular… *coughOneDirectioncough*
No offense to all you “Directioners” out there.
Well, I woudln’t ever clasify myself as a “Directioner” but to be honest I’m confused as to why Beatles fans dislike One D, and other boybands-of-the-moment- the way I see it, the Beatles were the original boyband; they spawned the Monkees, Westlife, Take That, JLS, One Direction etc….every boyband ever is part of the Beatles’ legacy.

In the now accepted sense and meaning of the word The Beatles are not a boyband
Maybe not, but they definately “invented” the idea and format of what we would now call a boyband. No Beatles=no boybands

I just think a lot of One Direction’s music is a little on the annoying side, that’s all. If they’re part of the Beatles’ legacy, then they’re not exactly doing a great job of fulfilling their purpose. Or something like that. There are other good boybands out there, though, that are fulfilling their purpose or whatever. Just my opinion, no offense to anyone.

Oh yeah, their music is definately on the annoying side of things.
When I say legacy I’m not saying that current boybands are, like, carrying the Beatle torch on to future generations or that they’re the next Beatles (there is never going to be a next Beatles), I just mean that they continuing along one of the many, many branches which the Beatles started (…did that make any sense at all?)
I don’t know why I seem to be defending One Direction. I only kind of like them a little bit. They’ll be forgotten in a couple of years time anyway, and people will be reading this thread wondering what we’re all on about.

I had a band I hated some months ago but I dont hate them anymore.. the band was:
The Rolling Stones.
The reason why I hated them is because I couldnt like (even though I tried and tried) Mick Jaggers voice. I thought their songs were bad and it pissed me off to see people saying they were better than the beatles. That made me instantly hate them.
But, Ive started to like a few of their songs now recently, like: Angie, Gimme Shelter, Miss You and Paint It Black. Especially: Gimme Shelter and Miss You. Those are great.
I dont think I HATE any bands actually.. theres some bad bands but I dont hate them. Like Black Veil Brides, or Limp Bizkit.

I thought Thats What makes You Beautiful by One Direction was the biggest pile of banal manufactored s**t in a long time. The fact that the mainstream radio stations treated it as something wonderful only highlighted how dire that market gets at times, how low standards are and how willing the media are to not only accept s***e but dress it up as something decent.
Other signs of a deluded pop world are that Justin Beibers camp were annoyed he wasnt nominated for a Grammy – they dont have a category for unlistenable crap – and that itunes have Call Me Maybe as song of the year. If thats the best song of 2012 then we should just give monkeys a go as im sure they could get a better tune out of a keyboard and better lyrics from mindlessly wacking a typewriter for a couple of minutes.
I hate it when i have to go into Glasgow in the morning as Clyde 1 is on for the traffic news. Its a commercial music station that plays the music of today and its dreadful, a really painful journey. No wonder people are miserable at their work.

I believe there will be another band LIKE the Beatles in that they will help define another generation of music, but I know for a fact that they will be nowhere as good or influential, not even as memorable as our favorite four.
