Back on topic: I don’t know my range- my old singing teacher just played a scale on the keyboard and said “soprano” *shrugs*. At least I get Tony >.> <.<
Oh and I can sing ‘On My Own’- do I get a prize ?

@AppleScruffJunior, I got super excited when I saw that you said ScrambledEggs was back so looked back on the previous page. those April dates are from 2014, not this year. I sure do miss her. I hope she will come back when she gets a chance.
EDIT: I see you figured it out.

My dear @AppleScruffJunior,
“I’m afraid I don’t understand.”
What makes you an effing idiot? Freaking out because you thought an old friend of yours who had been absent for some time had returned and revitalised a thread (when it was actually a new friend of yours who did that last bit )?
Erm, move along, everybody else. Nothing to see here.

Well I remember trying to do Beatle tunes, when they were just a bit older, and couldn’t get it. Then, in one’s twenties, one can scream and usually get up there, but that fades away a bit for every thousand packs of smokes, I guess. But it doesn’t matter really. So many screechers have showed up, that trying to match up is pointless. Besides which, it’s vaguely embarrasing to see ‘old’ people up there yelling at full volume. Unless, of course, you have established that style in yer youth and have to maintain it for the fans. I dunno how they manage it.

I tend to be quite bassy in the mornings when my voice isn’t going yet but usually I flicker in the range between baritone and tenor, there’s a rather annoying section between those top two ranges where my voice still cracks and I can’t reliably falsetto it. I can actually sing Driven To Tears by the Police and that’s pretty good by my vocal standards, (the woah oh oh bits in B are a bit hard on the top notes there!).

BeatlebugI'm like Necko only I'm a bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin and also everyone. Or is everyone me? Now I'm a confused bassist ukulele guitar synthesizer kazoo penguin everyone who is definitely not @Joe. This has been true for 2016 & 2017 but I may have to get more specific in the future.

I was pretty sure that I did a post here but it seems that not; I’ll take this chance as well to say hello and that it is good to be back here, even if maybe it won’t be for long.
My vocal range for most of the day and counting falsetto, is from C#2 or D2 to G5 or G#5, but in the early hours of the day (when your voice is waking up) I can go down to C2 or B1 (it is rare that I hit the latter), and if warm enough, I can go up to A5 or Bb5 (again, very rare that I hit the latter). I have a goal in which I want to actually hit C2 normally and be able to sing up to C6. I’ll just keep practicing.
Even though I don’t feel I have a good singing voice, I might record just a small 4-part acapella to test how I sound.

Cool thread, this is. I just did the test and I’m a bit sick right no so my results ain’t exactly the best but I got from F2 to A4. Idk if that’s good or not. I’m not really one for the technicalities of singing and all that I just do it.

Indeedily!
I appreciate a little bit of the technical-singing-stuff, but at the end of the day, like @UnidentifiedFiendishThingy, I just do it, too. I’m not classically trained or anything, but nor am I just an out-of-tune hummer… I’m sort of in between as I do know some music stuff. Like the Fabs.
Thanks to them, I’ve expanded my comfortable range considerably–I can now reliably go down to C3, and I can usually belt out Oh! Darling or Kansas City with the proper rock n roll feel. Hurrah for the Fabs!

@Beatlebug Exactly. It’s good to find a medium. I only know the necessary techniques. Knowing too much can hurt more than help sometimes….
@natureaker They’re piano terms. There are 8 octaves on a piano. The one of yours that’s the easiest to explain is the C5 because it’s one octave above middle C.
