Ah bon, they did sing the National Anthem when some of them were captured and put in Ravensbrueck……so Beatley moment????
Reading what happened to a lot of them after the War really pisses me off though (to put it lightly). No counselling after they suffered years of stress, starvation and physically draining labour???? And one of the women who was left too physically and mentally distraught to work after her time in the camps only got 50% of a disability pension?!?!
While mental health support is still poor generally (in Ireland, at least) it’s a thousand times better than the lack of support people who suffered during the Wars received.
