^ Cool tell me how you find it, I have it on my shelf but still haven’t got around to it yet.
The last book I read was the first novel in The Chronicles of Narnia ‘The Magician’s Nephew’- I enjoyed it, after I heard such negative reviews from my friends. I was about halfway through it when I thought “Oh I don’t get why everyone is on about this being practically the Bible rewritten” and then Narnia was created by Aslan and Digory was tempted to eat a forbidden fruit and I just went “ahhhhhh ok”- not so subtle C.S Lewis.
Anyways now I’m onto the anti-Narnia book ‘The Golden Compass’ by Philip Pullman.

The Complete Recording Sessions – Mark Lewisohn. I know that is weird bedtime reading, but, hey, don’t judge me!

“The Vanity of Duluoz” by Jack Kerouac, 1967. His last book actually written at the end of his life was the first one about his teens & early twenties. He joined the Merchant Marines in ’41 (for money & adventure). He loved the coast of Ireland. “…then we sailed down into the Irish Sea, laid anchor off Belfast, waited there for some British convoy boats, and crossed the Irish Sea that afternoon and night and straight for Liverpool. 1943. The year the Beatles were born there. ha ha ha.” (well close enough, my dear tenderhearted Jack)

Jack London’s Novels and Social Writings (it’s a volume). I’m right at the end of Martin Eden. Jack London is a brilliant writer, I wish he had lived longer.
Funny thing about Martin Eden. I wasn’t aware that it was from the writings of Jack London. There’s a song by Tom Waits called Shiver Me Timbers wherein he sings, “And I know Martin Eden’s gonna be proud of me and may before me who’ve been called by the sea…”
One day, I was in an old book store and laying right on the counter was a copy of Martin Eden, which I bought & read immediately! Thanks for that memory!

I was given “Ringo: With A Little Help ” by Michael Seth Starr (no relation) for Christmas. My kids gave me that plus the Lego Yellow Submarine .
The Ringo book is OK so far, I think I have been spoiled by Lewisohn’s precision and clarity. I have definitely noticed some vagueness and weird sentence construction.

Having read the first three chapters I haven’t been annoyed, wanting to throw it out the window, or bored senseless. Which is unique in most of which I have tried to read in the many months gone by.

I got as far as chapter one of Norman’s Paul biography; it annoyed the very core of my being so I lost all interest and intent on it. Sorry but I have no interest at all in reading about visitors to Paul’s National Trust home. What a stupid way to start a book.

^ Is it your book or did you check it out of a library, @GardeningOctopus?
Is there a nifty little fact you’ve learned from the book that you can share with us? Just anything you didn’t already know…don’t worry if you think others may already know it. We all have to take our Beatles baby steps.
