Decided to re-read the last book in the “Matched” trilogy by Ally Condie, because I’m not gonna re-read all 3 books because I prefer the last book and the second book is soooo boring:I tried reading the first two books and I could not get into them at all.
I liked the first book, but by the second book, I questioned if I should continue with the series

^ I am very meh about series- I definitely prefer standalones with the exception of Harry Potter which could go on and on forever and ever and I would still buy every single one (even if I was dead, it would be in my will to buy the latest HP and plant it in the grave alongside with me).
Today I bought some books (goddammit and I had just reduced my to-be-read pile so they all actually fit on the shelf). All of them bar one are second hand which is lovely:
The new one is ‘Girl Interrupted’ a memoir by Susanne Kaysen, it was made into a film ages back with Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie but I’ve never seen it. Anyways, it’s meant to be similar to ‘The Bell Jar’ and I loved that and books about mental health always interest me so I’m looking forward to it. It’s about Kaysen’s teenager years when she spent two years of her line in a psychiatric hospital where she is treated with depression- I know nothing else.
Second is ‘A Little Princess’ by Frances Hodgeson Burnett. I never read all of those children’s classics as a child so now I’m trying to catch up on what I missed out on.
Thirdly, is another famous one, ‘Schindler’s Ark’ by Thomas Keneally, which the film ‘Schindler’s List’ was based on. It tells the real-life story of Oskar Schindler, a man who bravely risked his own life to protect Jews in Nazi-Occupied Poland. I love the film so I’m sure the book will be just as good.
And finally two Beatley ones (what you think I’d buy books without getting Beatles ones?!?)
First is:
‘Memories of John Lennon ‘, which was introduced and edited by Yoko. I had never heard of this before until I saw it in the bookshop and I wasn’t sure if it was going to be a load of crap or not but I took the risk. Celebrities like Chuck Berry, Mick Jagger, Annie Leibovitz and Cilla Black, family members and former Ono-Lennon tell stories about what they remembered about Mr. Lennon and his impact on them- should be a good read. It appears to be told through letters to John, drawings of him, photographs, snippets from interviews etc. (I’m sad there is no equivilant of this for George, I’m sure there’s great stories out there!)
And finally:
‘Summer of Love: The Making of Sgt Pepper ‘ by the wonderful George Martin. Self explanatory really but my copy has had the living bejaysus kicked out of it from the way it looks. It looks like someone get it in their bag for a month and had a load of stuff banging off it and folding and whatnot and after all that they only got to page 34 when they were reading it- disgraceful. Anyways I like ‘Pepper’, I like George, should be a good combo!

‘Royal Jelly’ by Roald Dahl. Reading a collection (I think its complete) of his adult short stories – it says complete but normally there is at least one missing meaning you have to get another complete collection to read it.
Been given two books to read from my manager which sound and look as boring as anything I could ever have nightmares over. Even got told that whilst she thinks they are great everyone she’s recommended them to has thought otherwise. So whoopee. No idea how I’ll get the desire to read them. And its not as if I can shove them on a shelf and forget they exist as she wants them back as soon as I finish which means interrogation.

Oh I got one of his adult short story collections a couple of weeks back called ‘Kiss, Kiss’- ‘Royal Jelly’ is included it. I remember wanting to read it for ages after I read a RD biography when I was nineish.
I’ll get around to it in a couple of weeks, I’m still reading ‘East of Eden’ because I’ve been too lazy to pick it up, despite the fact it has been great so far!

Harry Potter FanficitonI’m so particular on Harry Potter fanfiction. It either has to be written like Shakespeare or My Immortal.
I’m the same way. I’m reading the sequel to this. The person wrote before The Half Blood Prince.

Finished reading ‘Kiss Kiss’, a collection of short stories by Roald Dahl. Favourites were ‘Pig’, ‘Royal Jelly’, ‘Georgy Porgy’ and ‘Genesis and Catastrophe: A True Story’. All were really enjoyable however and i now move onto the next collection ‘Over To You’.

The one called “The Landlady” is rather upsetting, I assume you haven’t gotten to that one yet.

No i’ve read that. I liked the twist but prefer the ones I listed. One of the reasons why I like Roald Dahl is that his writings have a macabre tendency thru a lot of his short stories that give them a bite. I hate ‘The Witches’ film due to how they changed the ending and was very pleased to find that Dahl himself called it “utterly appalling“.
