Rereading (for the 3rd time this year):
Juno and the Paycock by Sean O’Casey
How Many Miles to Babylon- Jennifer Johnston
Othello- William Shakespeare
An Triail-Máiréad Ní Ghráda
I have read JatP 3 times, seen it performed twice and I never want to see it again after my exams are over.
Same as HMMtB but I thought that was just a pretty uninteresting, predictable book.
I liked Othello and An Triail though- I’ll read those again sometime in the future when nostalgia calls…
I tell you (it’s quite sad but anyways) the thing I’m looking forward to the second 1:00pm Friday, the 12th of June arrives is running home after those blasted exams and tackling my book pile. I have been hoarding for the past few months and I want to read some Steinbeck now Goddammit!
I’ve only read one of his books (Of Mice and Men) and I cried so ‘East of Eden’ and ‘The Grapes of Wrath’ better live up to my expectations!

Unless you get offered the role of Juno Boyle, at which time you will joyfully reminisce about studying it when you were younger. And how much it has always meant to you.

I’m reading Andy Summers’ wonderful autobiography! And he’s just about to meet the other members of The Police!!!
There have been a few Beatles references, of course, and quite a few notable musicians were also in Andy’s life. It’s interesting to see all the great music he got to take part in and be around in the 60’s/70’s.
I recommend this to my forum Police pal, @Oudis! If you haven’t read it I’m sure you’d love it.
Stewart’s book was also entertaining, but it a different way. Also left out most of The Police’s career.
Sting’s autobiography is the logical next step!

That’ll be in about 30-40 years, I might be able to look at it then….stress ‘might’ 😛

I just ordered my books from the library that I’ll dive into straight after my exams (I am eternally grateful to @Ahhh Girl for the borrowbooks.ie link as I don’t have to go through this embarrassing situation with my librarian:
Librarian: Why hello ASJ, we haven’t seen you in a while. How are you doing?
ASJ: Grand thanks, I was wondering if I could request some books?
L: Sure thing, what would you like to order?
ASJ: Ammmm…. ‘The Beatles’ by Hunter Davis
L: Grand that’s ordered, anything else?
ASJ: Yep, ‘The Beatles Anthology’- The Beatles
L: Oh you’re a Beatles fan!
ASJ: Yes….
L: Any other books?
ASJ: ‘Paul McCartney : Many Years From Now’ by Barry Miles…
*Librarian’s eyebrows narrow*
ASJ: And… ‘The Complete Beatles Recording Session’ by Mark Lewisohn and ‘The Lives of John Lennon ‘ by Albert Goodman…thanks.
L: No fiction or anything?
ASJ: ….Nope :/ )
So my local librarian only sees my obsession for 2 minutes while she orders the books on the computer, happy days.
I already have 30 books at home that I should be reading but what’s another 4…

The Rebel, by Albert Camus.
Fascinating philosophical study of the two ideological movements (Communism and Fascism) that caused so much misery and mayhem in the last century.

I won a book that I had only entered the day before the competition ended. I had to give a Northern Ireland address as they would only ship to the UK so it should be here next week or maybe the week after.
I’m very excited and it’ll be signed too!

Considering some of the fan-fiction out there is being a good writer that necessary?

Funnily enough it’s the 3rd and final book in The Breen and Tozer series by William Shaw (I won the first book off this forum 😛 ). Coincidentally, I also ordered the 2nd book from the library last week before I knew I had won the competition so I’ll get to (re)read the first 2 before I finish off with the 3rd.
I quite enjoyed the first book, I mean John appears in it, Abbey Road and Kinfauns if my memory serves me well, so what’s not to like?

Isn’t the victim an Apple Scruff? AppleScruffJunior, it seems, enjoys reading about the murder of one of the originals…

I’m purely jealous of them so the fact that one of them gets murdered doesn’t wreck my day 😉

I read Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night over the weekend (I had ample opportunity, given the long drives and ferry rides) and enjoyed it greatly. My edition was the ‘No Fear’ one but I didn’t even glance at the modern translation (except by accident).
