Obviously Boogie Nights by Heatwave is a classic track, but I’d never before appreciated how beautiful the first 30 seconds are.

Although The Beatles were my #1 artist on Spotify Wrapped as usual this year, all 5 of my top tracks were somehow The Lemon Twigs. Any other fans of theirs on the forum?
They are somehow firmly in the 60s / 70s style of music, while also being completely modern and unique. Spent the night binging them once again, here’s one of many many tracks I could share.

@kelicopter — I never heard of Lemon Twigs before. I went to YT and found a list of songs. My quick impressions for now: excellent engineering, nice “wall of sound” effect, lead voice is quite strong, good harmonies (and/or tracked over voices), catchy melodies & warmth, deceptively simple chord changes but some are actually sophisticated to my ear.
“Corner of My Eye” is quite good. Will definitely explore them more!

Love that initial review! I hope you continue to enjoy them!
They are brothers and both incredibly talented musicians and multi-instrumentalists. They tend to write and arrange songs individually, similar to Lennon-McCartney. Brian’s songs are often more pop / ballad-y, while Michael’s songs are very glam rock (though that is over simplifying – they span quite a few genres really.)

When I walked into the departmental Christmas party, Happy Xmas (War Is Over) was playing. The very next song was Wonderful Christmastime . I’m glad I arrived in time to hear them. The music selections went downhill after that.

They could have played Ringo’s 1999 Christmas album “I Wanna Be Santa Claus” — the funnest collection of holiday songs I’ve heard.

You want fun just play Must Be Santa by Dylan or Dominick the Donkey by Lou Monte on repeat. Richy’s album is fun, but it doesn’t really give off Christmas energy.
Also there is no Christmas album better than Mariah Carey’s Christmas album.

That Dylan song/video is wild, thanks! If I had choreographed that video I would have added one moment — suddenly everyone stops and the music stops, there’s a doorbell ringing. Someone opens the door and Tom Waits is standing there with a bottle, along with Keith Richards and Neil Young. “Is this the right place?” They ask. Everyone shouts to Bob — “It’s the three Wise Men!” They wave them in and the music & dancing re-starts…

I’ve been diving into George Harrison ‘s solo career properly for the first time, even though I’ve been a Beatles fan for about five years by now. I don’t know what stopped me before but from the tracks I’ve heard so far, he might have written my favourite solo-songs of any former Beatle. Aside from that, I’ve been bumping a lot of Mac DeMarco and Tex Crick. I think Tex is great but also the one that most people are least likely to have heard, so I’ll drop a link to my favourite song by him!

So far I’ve listened to 5 versions of an old classic 1938 song Two Sleepy People by Hoagy Carmichael (lyrics by Frank Loesser)
“Here we are,
out of cigarettes,
holding hands and yawning,
look how late it gets…”
I listened to Hoagy’s 1938 version; the version in the same year sung by Bob Hope and Shirley Ross in the movie Thanks for the Memory; Dean Martin and Line Renaud in 1955 (not sure where from); and Art Garfunkel’s 1993 version. But for some reason, my favorite is my first discovery of it yesterday, randomly bumping into an old Dick Cavett show where Dick sang the song in a duet with Carol Burnett.
