First time listening (sorta). I dedicate this to Ron Nasty.
I’m still holding off; gonna wait for Sir Peter’s video to drop, and then watch/listen simultaneously
I don’t know how you’ve managed to hold off! I told my other half I would try to wait and listen with him yesterday evening – then 8 minutes after release told him that I couldn’t possibly wait any longer.

Haha, well I wasn’t really expecting to enjoy it overmuch. I did a bit of crabbing about it on its thread in the days approaching release. But it’s OK.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Went through Giles’s White Album remaster again, and my opinion is pretty much the same. Some songs benefit greatly from the remaster like Dear Prudence , Ob La Di, Savoy Truffle , and Good Night . Other like I Will , Yer Blues , and Long Long Long I prefer the original mono mixes or even the box set remasters. Overall I don’t think the 2018 remaster will ever be my go to version of the album, but outtakes are fantastic. I never get tired of White Album outtakes.

Going through the best album ever, Revolver . Giles Martins’s 2022 mixes are honestly great. No complaints at all, still I prefer the original mono mixes. Its astounding how well produced the album was, everything is so clear, the instrumental performances are super clear and tight, the vocals are warm and clear, the harmonies swirl around you despite being in mono. Even considering the amazing songwriting contributions from John Paul and George, George Martin’s fingerprints stand out just as much. Th gloss he is able to have over each and every track comes through every time I listen. Unreal tracklist as well. Unquestionably my favorite album and it isn’t particularly close.

Straight facts
The only major issue I had with the 2022 mix, if I remember rightly (I only listened through it once; usually nowadays when I listen to the album I go for the mono version), was that I felt they completely neutered “She Said, She Said”. The way the guitar riff was separated just made it sound weak to me, whereas the original mixes (both mono and stereo) were so compressed and biting and acerbic, and that harsh tone is a major part of what makes it so good (the rest is Ringo’s crazy shuffle, and George’s ethereal harmonies play a not insignificant role in balancing out the harshness with shimmering melodic loveliness). And since “She Said She Said ” has always been a central pillar of the album for me, one of the songs that particularly encapsulates the way this album sounds, I was really strongly disappointed with that. So I’ll be sticking to the mono mix
Anyway I’m currently listening to this album which was released (in the US) on this day in 1970:
(I’ve long suspected that this album isn’t actually as good as I think it is, and that I’ve only gaslit myself into liking it because I absolutely adore the album cover, and the cover lends the whole record such a vibe. But it certainly does have its moments, particularly “After All” and of course the classic title track.)

I first have to thank @Sea Belt for introducing me to the YouTube clipping technique
…And a further thank-you apple to whichever of you can correctly identify the source of this little guitar-fill, because I’m stumped! I claimed it was from “Something ” on the NAT thread; but now I’m unsure – maybe it appears somewhere in the medley? (I keep trying to hear it in my head, and yet my brain keeps detouring into “…Now And Then , I…”)
Anyways, what is this from, please?
