@Richard, I got distracted at the end of this post. Are you a musician? I think I remember you discussing strings once.
Currently listening to my bro-in-law’s smartphone mix…right now, a favourite from my latter high-school daze

For Your Love was the only encore song my band in HS ever played. We would invariably end up watching our budding Rock God lead guitarist fuzzing out.
Richard said
What instrument did you play (or maybe vocals?) in your HS band?
It’s hard to remember how I joined the band. I was mostly friends with the drummer and helped carry his kit to a rehearsal once. It was the lead guitarist’s group (who went to private school so he could grow his hair longer) and I recall a conversation with his mom. So she might have suggested letting me join. I was learning guitar, but I had a terrible time with my strumming (still do). So I mostly played percussion instruments (my mom bought me a mean tambourine) and harmonizing along with the rhythm guitarist. We played quite a few parties and a school dances, but I ended up moving across town and that was it for my music career with the mighty Alpha Omegas!

It sounds like it was a lot of fun with the Alpha Omegas while it lasted.
I can play guitar and keyboards to some extent, but I haven’t played for a while.
So do you still play guitar, @sigh butterfly?

I have an acoustic at home that I mess around with most days. I have a real issue with tempo, so most folks can’t deal with listening to me. I do much better if I’m playing with another guitar player or percussionist and we’re face to face.

Reliving last night through live videos such as this one (which is close enough)
and this one (which I did see!)
Ladies and gentlemen, the man – the legend – the absolute beast of a bassist (praised by Macca Himself!) – Chris Wolstenholme:
this is just the best video I found for this one but man, it goes so hard live
man I love this band so damn much

I’m listening to this brilliant cover of ‘A New England’. I enjoy Billy Bragg’s original, but I always preferred this version. Billy came round to Kirsty’s flat in Shepherd’s Bush and she cooked him breakfast while he wrote an extra verse for her. She felt the original was short.

Much as I love Kirsty’s version, @Rube, it is a very ’80s production, which I’m not too keen on. When I want to listen to Kirsty doing it, I generally go for the ’91 BBC radio session she did with Billy…
Another interesting appearance of the song was when Billy and Kate Nash did it as a mash-up with her song Foundations…

Kirsty and Billy’s duet is amazing. Since her tragic death, Billy always sings the extra verse as a tribute whenever he performs the song live.
I’m currently listening to ‘Sexuality’ which has Kirsty on backing vocals and appearing in the music video.

I’ve been playing a lot of cards with Vonsister while temporarily under her roof, always with a classic-rock soundtrack; and so I’ve been researching, exploring the LP discography of one of her proclaimed favourite bands, Journey – I’m not really familiar with most of the catalog, aside from the too-familiar singles. (Tho I do remember they did a lousy cover of “It’s All Too Much ” on one of their early fusiony albums, before Steve Perry joined.)

I am pretty sure I said this some where else… or saw it. But there is something about Lennon saying “No need to be alone” and “no need to be afraid” that is just calming. The music video makes me cry though
