I’ve been on a kick today with My Sweet Lord . I listened to it while I made my tea this morning and I have had it stuck in my head ever since.

It’s a good un. Idk about you but I just find it a very comforting song – it’s simple and I’ve heard it a thousand times but it still makes me smile. George tends to have that effect on me anyway…
I’m currently listening to myself* just making sure the last take I did of the song I’m recording sounds a-ok. I’ll post it tomorrow and y’all can decide for yourselves……….
*I’ve finally gotten okay with hearing the recorded sound of my own singing, after years of working on it and working on my brain-blockades and hang-ups I still don’t wanna hear recordings of myself talking

George has an effect on me as well I smile and almost cry when I hear him sing, it is just so beautiful.
I have recently become fine with my singing voice like half of the time, the other half of the time i feel that it is disgusting. I hate hearing myself talk because I have this THICK rural west tennessee accent (listen to carl perkins talk… yeah mine is that bad. I am also from a town called Finger so that’s wonderful) Even in person I hear my accent sometimes and its not fun.
To not be off topic i am listening to: Beware Of Darkness by George. Why does his voice have to be so beautiful????

I realize this is old news, but I thought I’d listen to the song that sparked the controversy:
On February 19, 1981, George Harrison was ordered to pay $587,000 for subconsciously plagiarising The Chiffons’ 1963 hit single ‘He’s So Fine’ during the creation of his own song ‘My Sweet Lord ‘. “I wasn’t consciously aware of the similarity to ‘He’s So Fine’,” Harrison reflected in the biography I Me Mine .
I just listened, and it does resemble My Sweet Lord in melody and structure. I didn’t realize our subconscious can be that expensive. Did Jung mention that…?

@Beatlebug I remember the first time I ever heard your singing voice I thought you were Dhani. I couldn’t believe I was being catfished by George’s son. Looking forward to your b-day tune.

Your accent sounds amazing. I was born and raised in North Carolina but I don’t have much of a Southern accent – it’s there, but it’s not very strong most of the time and I kind of wish it was a little more noticeable. I love regional accents (such as our boys’ Scouse drawls) of all kinds, and the fact that many of them are being somewhat eroded during the modern era saddens me.
Anyway I’m listening to All Things Must Pass (again – I listened to it yesterday, but the weather today is perfect for it – drizzly/misty and chill and grey-green). Earlier I listened to about half of George Harrison (1979 eponymous album), Gone Troppo , Somewhere In England (which is better than I remember), and most of Cloud Nine . My listening schedule has been super hectic due to work, but I’ll get them all done at some point

Your accent sounds amazing.I disagree, I wish I had no accent.
I’ll let you in on a secret: no one has no accent. The only people who think they have no accents are people with very neutral American accents, but guess what? That’s still an accent.
I still think regional accents are something to be cherished and I’ll die on this hill
Anyway, I’m starting my morning with Fistful of Mercy’s one and only album, As I Call You Down (it’s tangentially George-related since Dhani Harrison was a member! )

On one level I agree everyone has an accent of one sort or another. On another level, it seems the speaking voice of, for example, Robert Redford narrating his movie A River Runs Through It (1992), closely approximates a perfectly “accentless” voice. I like existing on multiple levels!

The Waterboys, Glasgow ’86…
This song is dedicated to Attila the Hun, Adolf Hitler, Michael Heseltine, The Blue Meanies, The Joker, The Incredible Hulk, Mrs. Thatcher. It’s called We Will Not Be Lovers…
Then I’ll be going for a couple of tracks from Glastonbury that year — first will be their The Thrill Is Gone leading into Van Morrison’s The Healing Has Begun…
…and then Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen’s Because the Night preluding their The Pan Within…
And then, unavoidably, it has to be them doing Prince in Dublin…
They were on fire that year live. I got to see them at Glastonbury and another couple of gigs that year (Brighton and London, I think), and there was nobody touching them for soul, spirit, and surprises… couldn’t believe it first time I heard them pull out Purple Rain .

The memory is still strong, but there was a time this song shook me to my core.
And when I call, will you walk gently through my shadow?
It’s the ones who sing at night
It’s the ones who sing at night
The ones you dream of, the ones who walk away
With their capes pulled around them tight
Crying for the night
Cry for the nightbird tonight

I like to find unusual combinations of 2 instruments. In my song “Maryland Marching Band” I imagine a riff done by an oboe in synch with an electric guitar (single notes). I found a short piece using those 2 instruments, and they go together well:
