Listen to Jon Bon Jovi sing an oddly mannered version of Here Comes The Sun – sounds oddly like Davy Jones of the Monkees, for some reason
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Water – Kiki Dee Band
It has rained more today than all of the storms put together over the last 12 months. Doggie is running in circles because his senses are so confused.
I have kind of a cool connection with Kiki. In 1974, after living in the jungles of Hawaii for 3 years I decided to venture out and flew to Honolulu to see Elton John. I hadn’t seen tv, been to a concert or heard much radio in all that time. It was crazy being around an arena full of people and hearing amplified music. Kiki opened and was very down home and even brought out a family that she had met near the place I was living. Next Elton appeared out of a cloud of smoke wearing a wizard costume and proceeded to play an earth shattering version of Funeral For A Friend. I was riding on the Marrakesh Express that night, but the excitement was Beatle level and a sensory explosion. Later on Elton and band played a long introduction into a song that sounded so familiar. To my extreme pleasure he began singing “Picture yourself in a boat on a river!!!”.

Fresh off the album press – released yesterday, in fact. I am enjoying it very much.Steven Wilson – THE FUTURE BITES (2021)
Very interesting stuff @Beatlebug – he is reminiscent of the great 80s performance artists. In a strange coincidence, this is the second video I’ve seen in the last 24 hours that was filmed in a mall. I never thought I would be experiencing nostalgic feelings for the mall, but yet here i am.

Oh lordy I hate malls, particularly right now, so that video was just straight up traumatic Steven Wilson himself does appear in the video as the man on the escalator at 1:12.
My best bandmate is a huge Steven Wilson fanboy (I’m pretty sure he feels similarly about Mr Wilson as I feel about David Bowie), so it’s rubbed off on me. He is quite Bowiesque in that his output is incredibly prolific, consistently high-quality, and he refuses to stagnate or stick to a certain genre or style. He’s got an enormous back-catalogue that I have yet to catch up on, but I do enjoy what I’ve heard and respect him immensely. and his hair is consistently cool
Right now, though, I’m listening to Songs For Beginners (1971) by Graham Nash, in honor of his 79th birthday…
The only two solo Nash songs I know (“Another Sleep Song” and “Sleep Song”) are on these albums, so I figured I’d check them out 🙂

@Beatlebug, yes! I was thinking David Bowie meets Peter Gabriel. I’ll join you for some Graham celebrations this afternoon. I have a Crosby & Nash boot kicking around somewhere that has a gorgeous version of Lee Shore. They spend 5 minutes tuning their instruments before they start, which I know is something us Windham Hillbillies appreciate.

I remember that day and loved this album from the first listen. I thought Dreams was the best song I had ever heard.
…and for all our snowbound friends, try to make the most of it.
For there’s toast and honey
And there’s breakfast in bed on a tray
Oh, it’s ten below zero
And we’re about to abandon our plans for the day

This is just insane. Bob Dylan performing Like a Rolling Stone, 2nd take, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on 18 February 1992 taping the Late Night with David Letterman‘s 10th Anniversary show. The line-up backing him is just ridiculous…
Bob Dylan (vocal & guitar), Chrissie Hynde (guitar, harmony vocals), Sid Mcginnsss (guitar), Steve Vai (guitar), Carole King (piano), Paul Schaffer (Hammond organ), Edgar Winter (saxophone), Doc Severinsen (trumpet), Jim Horn (baritone saxophone), Maceo Parker (alto saxophone), Fred Wesley & Pee Wee Ellis (trombone), Will Lee (bass), Anton Fig (drums), Jim Keltner (drums), Rosanne Cash, Nancy Griffith, Emmylou Harris, Michelle Shocked, Mavis Staples. (backup vocals).
Next up I think I’ll have me some Silver Wilburys…
