Mark E.’s lyrical subject matter is too esoteric for me to follow, usually.

I don’t even try and follow what he’s saying, hahaha

I think of his vocals as being just another instrument

Haha I can actually hear Smith reciting that – “The vocals-uh!…The vocals-uh!…Are just another instrument-UH!”

Got this on now

Listening to this beautiful album

ab_channel=HillaOz

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE by Gerry and the Pacemakers

I never heard this song until yesterday  when I heard that Gerry passed on. I have been listening to it on repeat. It’s so beautiful.

Approve a-hard-days-night-george-4

I listened to almost nothing but Bowie that day… and still have albums that I missed! There’s just so much a-hard-days-night-paul-7heart

(and also Sunday the 10th too a-hard-days-night-paul-10a-hard-days-night-paul-10)

Right now I’m listening to “Southern Cross” by Crosby Stills & Nash plus assorted Tom Petty/Heartbreakers songs. I’ve sorta been on a mild Petty kick off and on for the past couple months… I don’t understand how this happened as he was not really high on my list of artists to get into and I never thought, logically, that I’d be that enthusiastic about his laid-back brand of americana-rock… but that charming mfer just charmed his way in…! a-hard-days-night-paul-7

Someone asked if I had any Sandy Denny, so been ripping, tagging, and dipping in and out of her boxset over the weekend. Settling in for a straight run-through of one of the greatest late ’60s/’70s singers, now largely – and shamefully – forgotten bar one track with Led Zeppelin.

Not sure I’d agree that Sandy Denny has been ‘forgotten, bar one track with Led Zeppelin (The Battle of Evermore)’. I think her work with Fairport Convention is still relatively well known – Who Knows Where The Time Goes?, Meet on the Ledge and Matty Groves to name but three outstanding Denny performances.
