How are we categorising/defining the eras, @Beatlebug? I’d like to accuse you of being wrong, but I need to know what your eras are first.
I would wager that Meddle is being placed at the end of the first intermediate period. I might beg to differ, placing Meddle at the beginning of the golden years. Few bands have an album like Meddle that is viewed by their fans the way that album is. Its widely considered to be underrated yet i’ve never met someone who likes Floyd and doesn’t adore that album.

@Beatlebug To be honest I’m a casual Pink Floyd fan so I can’t even comment on your love for the early 70s version of the band.
My collection consists of The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall; so I’d have to argue my preferred period is the classic 1973 – 1979 era.
Meddle is a great album, btw. I can still remember the first time I heard Echoes – I like that version of the band more than the goblins and fairies Syd Barrett version.

Anyway, currently listening to this album, released on this day in 1994:Tom Petty – Wildflowers
@WeepingAtlasCedars
Cool! I gave a dedicated listen to Wildflowers earlier today myself, flipping through the book that came with my box set and reading all the lovely little stories about it.
But now, I’m listening to:

Listening to the new album by Adrianne Lenker from Big Thief, songs. Simple but beautiful folk; I would recommend to fans of Nick Drake. I love the album cover, too.

” grantchester Meadows ” is possibly my favourite Roger Waters vocal. Plus I love the piano approximation of sisyphus’s rock falling down the hill. Great album!
I’ve been listening over the last few days to this stone-cold classic, released 43 years ago Thursday. (I was blessed enough to first experience it just weeks later, aged 10, perfect for a band with such kid appeal)

What I think is the best song from the Cars soundtrack:
“Life Is A Highway” might have been in the running for the top spot IF it were the original Tom Cochrane version, but alas, no. So, James Taylor it is, then!

Frank Zappa covering Norwegian Wood , Lucy in the Sky and Strawberry Fields, but… erm… it’s Frank and you may not recognise the lyrics, and some people may find them a tad offensive, though I love Louisiana Hooker with Herpes…
