I’ve been listening to a bit of Seeger lately too. Billy Bragg is the real deal when it comes to protest songs, however.

Excuse me, @QuarryMan, but Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan are the real deal when it comes to protest songs. Billy has always namechecked them as the major influences on what he does.

I’ll accept that correction. I associate Dylan most with his less directly political work, personally, though of course ‘Oxford Town’, ‘Masters of War’, ‘Hurricane’, ‘The Times They Are A-Changing’ and others are all classics.

I haven’t listened to that much Bragg besides his version of “L’Internationale”, though I plan on checking him out more.
I’m currently listening to Parklife by Blur.
“Girls and Boys ” is a total bop– gets me grooving every time!
Damon Albarn can get it ngl

Nice!
Since you’ve given me a convenient opening, let me now plug DJ Robb’s most excellent blog, with an overview of the MASSIVE deluxe “Sign of the Times” box, including comparative writeups/reviews by Dingle Lad and myself alongside DJ’s own (ie. the “three old guys”)

I mean, I can’t really blame you, Rita. I haven’t seen an episode of Inspector Gadget in years, but there are still times when it gets stuck in my head. It truly is that catchy.
