The first proper full-length UK punk LP is still one of the best, with the amazing Rat Scabies bashing the crap outta those drums!

Dr. Feelgood in 1975…
…there are those who’d argue this is the first modern punk track. Lee Brilleaux was such a great sneering vocalist and Wilco Johnson’s searing guitar definitely influenced a bunch of the punk groups that would emerge in the eighteen months that followed.

I’ll just come out and say it; the Hamilton soundtrack. I know I’m late to the party with it, and musicals get a bad rap but I really don’t know why. It’s incredibly well written, and I’m loving rapping along on my drives to and from work.

People against Hamilton are nuts. It is amazingly written, varied in styles and performances. The soundtrack by itself might be a little corny, but watching the play makes it all go away. Also we’re not late to the party, some of us just didn’t have the means to see the play, and the film just came out, so we are more than justified in starting to like it. I love it. I’ve already memorized the bit from Stay Alive through to Meet Me Inside, and I wasn’t even trying to, it’s my favourite part.
Besides, this “bad rap” Hamilton gets is just a very vocal minority, have you seen how the film is ranking on IMDb?
Also the beat on We Know goddamn

Now that it’s a film, I’ll probably get to experience the “Hamilton” phenomenon in the indefinite future, see what everyone’s raved about these last several years.
Listening to Bob Marley & The Wailers’ “Legend” on headphones, while washing dishes (best way to do ’em! )

Been playing Nina Simone’s ‘My Baby Just Cares For Me’ over and over while I painstakingly attempt to learn it on guitar, so now I’m taking a break with some Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Which mix is on Spotify?
Dunno, sorry, it doesn’t specify. I wasn’t aware of variations…does it exist in both stereo and mono mixes? (And come to think of it, why would a solo performance even benefit from a stereo recording/mix??)
Now playing: some vintage New Wave of British Metal, all-female division

Eddie & the Hot Rods – Live at the Marquee EP (1976)
Recorded on 9 July 1976. Four cover versions – ? and the Mysterians’ 96 Tears, Bob Seger’s Get Out of Denver, Van Morrison’s Gloria, and the Stones Satisfaction. Another proto-punk record from a pub-rock band.

Listening to Spotify’s handy ‘Summer Rewind’ playlist that compiles songs you listened to a lot during previous summers. Currently on Slowdive’s ‘Star Roving’, which if I recall correctly I used to listen to all the time last summer whilst driving.
