I’ve been having a fight with my mother for the past couple of weeks as she doesn’t like Frank Zappa. She likes simpler stuff, power-chord rock, heavy stuff, she’s not into psychedelia or stuff too “looney”. I’ve been trying to show her a Zappa song she would like, but she doesn’t enjoy Peaches En Regalia, Willie the Pimp, Andy, The Grand Wazoo, The Duke of Prunes, Po-Jama People, Camarilllo Brillo, Inca Roads, King Kong. But after all of my efforts of trying to shove him down her throat I finally found a Zappa song she loved so I’m celebrating over itLong live Zappa
Maybe she’d like ‘Joe’s Garage’?
I’ve been on a big Simon & Garfunkel kick lately, particularly Bridge Over Troubled Water, but right now I’m listening to Kanye’s ‘Homecoming’.

Jules, WeepingAtlasCedars, BeatlebugI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Get a copy of Freak Out, it’s not as “looney” as some of his collection, but it’s full of intense social satire…

She’s 51, came of age during the 80s along with MTv so it’s no wonder she’s the total opposite to prime Zappa as her favourite type of music is either heavy metal or disco-pop.

I will first chance I get. It’s not so easy playing her that stuff, well, because nobody wants to hear something they don’t like constantly, so I really have to pick my moments to try and get any music like that around her
I’ve got a friend that always tries to turn me onto aggressive alternative music during every single music conversation and it does get quite annoying. Sometimes I just like what I like and he’s got to listen to his s**t by himself some other time.

Dancin’ Fool, is Disco Pop at least musically. Should be right up her alley.
