So I’m getting into King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard these days…and my mom even likes them! I just played Robot Stop, Fishing For Fishies, and The River for her. I pretty much never get to have a current band whose new releases I can be excited about, so this is extra fun. I still need to listen to all their albums…God , how does anyone write and record that much?

Haha I put this song in a video along with Floyd/Page/E.L.O. and u still have no comment!

Great choices! Love that Car Seat Headrest album, along with Twin Fantasy of course. I particularly dig the mid section of ‘Ballad of the Costa Concordia’ when the music starts to crescendo and Will just goes into this emotional rant that is just everything you feel as a late teenager
I’ve been on a huge Big Star kick over the past couple of weeks, and I’ve gotten somewhat burnt out on power pop as a result, so I’m shuffling my massive playlists in the hopes of finding something different that grabs my attention. Currently on Childish Gambino’s ‘Redbone’.

He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I had ordered the Dylan USB stick about a month ago. It finally came on Friday. To be honest, I had almost everything I wanted by Dylan already. Although the FLACs are just CD quality, some of the masters here are a major upgrade over what I had though in particular Blonde On Blonde, Highway 61 Revisited and Bringing It All Back Home. With those I never upgraded past my original 80’s CDs.

I’ve been having a fight with my mother for the past couple of weeks as she doesn’t like Frank Zappa. She likes simpler stuff, power-chord rock, heavy stuff, she’s not into psychedelia or stuff too “looney”. I’ve been trying to show her a Zappa song she would like, but she doesn’t enjoy Peaches En Regalia, Willie the Pimp, Andy, The Grand Wazoo, The Duke of Prunes, Po-Jama People, Camarilllo Brillo, Inca Roads, King Kong. But after all of my efforts of trying to shove him down her throat I finally found a Zappa song she loved so I’m celebrating over itLong live Zappa
She said it was hilarious.

That album was my gateway to the Zappa/Mothers discography and I still enjoy it – that Gibson SG tone!
Jules, your mother may like parts of “Sheik Yerbouti” – many of the songs are built on semi-punkish riff-rock structures.
