In honour of Phil announcing the first new album under the moniker in 17 years (!), I’m rediscovering my love for the album that for a long time I considered to be my very favourite – Mount Eerie by The Microphones. There’s something about Phil’s style which is just so appealing to me – it’s shy, disjointed, eccentric, cluttered and lo-fi, yet also mysterious, beautiful, bold and deeply original. Plus, it has the coolest packaging as you can see below, with a really great poster/lyrics sheet that basically illustrates the story of the album (I have it up beside my bed)..
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

FB friend of mine (and Dingle Lad’s) included Noname’s “Casket Pretty” on a kind of police-brutality playlist he just published in his blog

I love Dylan as the aged beat poet on I Contain Multitudes and Murder Most Foul. As a whole I’d put this album somewhere between Tempest and Together Through Life quality wise. Closer to Tempest though. JMO

On repeat for the tenth time this week would be “Revolver “. Normally on this thread, I’d write a short story about the album I listened to. This will not be the case this time. It’s my favorite album, and that probably says enough, I suppose.

Haha, I had to play it last year after you labeled it as such! It was interesting and unique, but not to my taste st all. Still, I give Phil his props.
I’m still in the 70s-80s R&B bag I’ve been in for the last several months. Now on Chaka Khan’s 1978 solo debut
