Gave a first listen to Dinosaur Jr’s 1987 album You’re Living All Over Me last night. It’s pretty good. Also listened to the first instalment of Kate Bush albums (The Kick Inside, Lionheart & Never For Ever ) with the plan of doing the next three ( The Dreaming, Hounds of Love & The Sensual World ) today and the final three ( The Red Shoes, Aerial & 50 Words For Snow ) tomorrow.
In the meantime, I’m enjoying this personal favourite Arctic Monkeys track, which is already 11 years old! Scary.

He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Just because it’s an odd one, @QuarryMan, you shouldn’t be ignoring 2011’s Director’s Cut, her revisiting several tracks from The Sensual World and The Red Shoes. Some completely new versions, some overdubbed, but it is viewed as her 9th (of 10) studio album.

Ah, I must confess I am guilty as charged. I hadn’t looked much into Director’s Cut, I think I had assumed it was a B-sides comp or something similar. Thanks for the heads up!

Anyway, I’ve decided Saturdays will be my Get the Led Out days, to complement my Pink Floyd Fridays, so today I’ve listened to Zepp III, Physical Graffiti, and am now enjoying this highly overlooked ward against woe:

Just so glad Bob gave approval, not something he does a lot, though he does occasionally…

Sorry, but there is only one ‘Beauty and The Beast’. Anything else is a pale, sad comparison.

I was just re-watching this last night
Anyone else thinks it inspired MJ’s Bad music video? I’d bet Scorsese loved West Side Story.
I always loved the dancing in the scene, but I just noticed how TIGHT the musical arrangement is. UUGHH I love it so much! By god, how I adore this movie. It’s so cringy and dated yet so satisfyingly OCD.

Oooh that’s a good one! “Calypso Frelimo” by itself would make a classic album even if it were split into two 16-minute vinyl sides, same for “He Loved Him Madly”. “Rated X” is such a weird experiment.

Beatlebug grooved out on Zepp’s
Hey Hey What Can I Do
This song has a weird history as the only non-album song released while the band was still together. The only way to get it was as the B side of the Immigrant Song 45. I don’t think it was available in other formats until the 90s. I remember listening to my brother’s scratchy 45 record many times.

Yeah, I remember waking up to this on WRIF in Detroit about 1985-86 and being puzzled by hearing what was pretty definitely an acoustic Zep track, albeit one I didn’t recognize. I wasn’t sure if I’d dreamed it or not, till later that summer the same station played it again, with the DJ explaining its non-album status.
Even then I wished it’d been included on “Coda” – that was the final item in their superlative catalog I’d acquired, and I found it a fairly underwhelming swan song (pun unintended but convenient)

I had the same thoughts when Coda came out VB. Btw-spent some good times with the Man in Black this afternoon. I must say this is a great time for a music lover to be a member of the Fab Forum. I don’t remember it ever being this harmonically vibrant, with so many eclectic suggestions and happy tuneful reminders. I have listened to music (yours, mine and ours) for at least 15 hours a day for the last month and I can barely keep up. During these heavy times it is really great.
