I had an English teacher a couple years ago who was very fond of Dylan. I myself never got past a greatest hits compilation and possibly another one of his better-known albums which the aforementioned English teacher had recommended (sadly I can’t even recall which one it was), more because of lack of effort than anything… and now I await my dressing-down at the hands of Ron Nasty. If I don’t come back, leave my music collection to the BBHouse Library.
Entropy will come for us all eventually, anyway.

My first introduction to Dylan was actually through one of my old creative writing/English teachers that made us analyze and rewrite the lyrics of “Maggie’s Farm” for some reason as a writing exercise. I hated it [the exercise, not the song] and hated that teacher because he taught me absolutely nothing about writing and I think he just wanted an excuse to bring in his guitar and sing Dylan songs at a bunch of 13-year-olds. Anyhoo, I now am quite fond of Dylan…..though every time I hear “Maggie’s Farm” I get flashbacks to my begrudging partaking of that writing exercise… good thing it didn’t bore me enough to discourage me from writing my own poetry…or discourage me from discovering the music of Bob Dylan.
Anyhoo, I’ve completely switched gears and I’m now listening to:
Preservation Hall Jazz Band– That’s It! (2013)
(^^^ I highly recommend btw)

^The Beatles are so much cooler than the Monkees because their birthdays are scattered throughout the zodiac year.
Anyway, I’m currently kicking off my two-day Georgemas Harribinge with the following triple album masterwork:
George Harrison – All Things Must Pass (1970)
It just so happens to be one of those beautiful overcast days whereon I always take a particular shine to this album, anyway. (I firmly believe George’s spirit has some kind of influence over the weather. )

Oh damn @Beatlebug beat me to it, but yeah I’m also listening to All Things Must Pass to kick off my own Harribinge and I’m absolutely vibing
((I considered starting with Wonderwall Music or maybe all the Beatles songs that he wrote/sang but I think solo this move and then I’ll listen to all the pre-ATMP Harrisongs after))

Cool reminiscences there, SB – I love that folks like yourself and Wigwam and intotheskywithdiamonds are around to share their tales of seeing giants like the Dead or Hendrix or Miles while they still walked the earth. And played the same ballrooms! I witnessed the late-stage Arkestra play two shows in a jazz club in Toronto in 1991 (shook Sonny’s hand!) and they were fine, but obviously 1991 is not 1969.
Wow, I can’t imagine seeing them at a club. I was lucky to be in the bay area when the music scene was so alive. From 68-71 I experienced live music at least twice per week. My fav place was Fillmore West (just for fun I attached a list of Fillmore concerts – some of the combinations of bands are hard to imagine). Tickets were pretty cheap (3.50 for most shows) and included 3 bands and a light show. Most shows were booked for 3 nights in a row, so word of mouth would spread about hot bands. Bill Graham would usually greet you at the top of the stairs and there would be a stack of posters for the show and a barrel of apples (from which you could help yourself). The setting could not be more intimate as the stage was only 2 or 3 feet high and there were no chairs except some old couches against the wall. Occasionally Hells Angels would drag the couches in front of the stage, which was pretty funny or scary (depending on your point of view). Sometimes if it was really cold out or there were police issues in the street, so at the end of the show Bill would tell everyone they were welcome to stay till morning. The local bands would usually come back and play some more. Since you could see a lot of the local bands for free at street festivals or in the park, I was pretty focused on seeing bands from England or the east coast when possible. It’s funny, the only shows I remember being sold-out were Led Zeppelins. I did see them in 1971 at the first theatre show I ever attended (actual padded seats with a balcony and marble bathrooms). I wrote up something for the forum about what that was like (never posted it though because Joe asked us to cool it). I see the LZ thread is still active, so maybe a will now.

Well…
I guess because I have mod powers I could just remove all evidence of me PWT, or I could just… stop PWT
Yes, that was meant for the George thread.

That is good to know.
I am enjoying delving into the solo stuff.
There is a lot of good stuff that not a lot of people know about.
I am currently listening to Harry Nilsson’s “The Point” – Original Cast Recording. It has Micky and Davy on it.

I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

You don’t need to tell me that, I know not that it’s likely to happen anytime soon, because I do what I want (and my next project is Queen, anyway — my friend and I promised we’re gonna get through their discography together).
The Harribinge recommences on this dreary February morn with this delightful chunk of Hawaiian sunshine:
