Currently listening to “Marquee Moon”, the sentimental debut album of the New Yorkie punk/post-punk godfathers “Television”. A very good album, which unfortunately a lot of people don’t seem to know (at least from my personal experience). A lot of inspiration was taken from jazz and good ol’ rock n’ roll and jazz, with counter-melodies and repeating riffs, rather than emphasizing on power chords and vocal snarls like most 70’s punk albums during it’s time.
Personal highlights of mine include: “See No Evil”, “Marquee Moon” – A personal favorite of mine – and “Tom Curtain”.
Side note: Any recommendations on future listens? I’m concerned on myself listening to “Revolver ” for the fourth time this week will bore me on the album.

I’d give LCD Soundsystem’s stuff a go if you’ve not heard it yet – sort of a mixture of Talking Heads-y post punk with New Order-y dance/new wave. I’d recommend their second and third albums Sound of Silver and This Is Happening.

“Marquee Moon”, great album!
If you wish thear another 1977 release in a similar vein, (stretching the confines of punk convention to include jazz and other influences) check out “Hard Attack” by MX-80.

I’m listening to Please Please Me for the first time in forever and a half and I just consciously realized that the reverb on the I Saw Her Standing There solo is BIGGER THAN GEORGE’S APPETITE

The best song by any villain in any medium. Absolutely incredible.
I’m completely shook. I used to own this own DVD as a little girl and have since buried it in my subconscious until now. Wow what a movie. What a song. Complete artistry here, my friends.
I’m currently listening to:
Weezer– Weezer (Blue Album ) (1994)
Lovely album and yet another band taking after the naming concept of the White Album . I love to see it. I keep forgetting how much I love the Blue Album so I keep forgetting to put it in my favorite albums list and I hate myself for that.

Someone recommended listening to Lana Del Rey so bought a few of her CD’s and have started listening to ‘Born To Die’. Decent enough so far in that I got thru five songs without wanting to turn it off due to familiarity making way to boredom. Will keep going therefore.

Her most recent one, Norman F*cking Rockwell, is excellent, I’d definitely give that one a go.
I recently watched the film The Big Short with my housemates, and it has ‘Lithium’ by Nirvana and ‘When The Levee Breaks’ by Zeppelin in the soundtrack, so I’ve been playing those on repeat.

I’ve heard some of ‘Norman F’cking Rockwell’ but I bought the albums I have (‘Born To Die: The Paradise Edition’, ‘Ultraviolent’ and ‘Honeymoon’) cheap on Amazon as I refuse to pay over £5 for a CD. I figure if I go this way, don’t buy 389 albums at full price and save, I’ll have enough to afford one deluxe Beatles album or an exclusive bottle of Beatles mouthwash that plays a line from ‘Penny Lane ‘ when opened and closed.

Currently listening to the “White Album “. Nothing much else I could possibly say.
Personal highlights: I would say all of them, but I guess that will be cheating. Honestly speaking, all songs except “Wild Honey Pie “, “Revolution 1 ” and maybe “Revolution 9 “. They’re not bad songs, merely because all the other songs (in my humble opinion) outclass them in every way.
Side note: Thanks for the suggestions QuarryMan and VonBonTee. Will check out “Sound of Silver” and “Hard Attack” once I am done with “Raw Power” by the Stooges (again).
