Pink Floyd– A Saucerful of Secrets (1968)
I’m on a Floyd kick now because I recently found the Pink Floyd tie-dyed t-shirt that I stole from my brother buried in my closet…..and it made me realize that I haven’t listened to Floyd in a, like, nearly a year (especially the early stuff). Oh, how I’ve missed you, Syd Barrett! I even forgot that “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds ” was referenced in “Let There Be More Light,” so I was really pleased upon hearing that song again….(my Floyd phase came before I fell in love with the Fab Four…..)

Love that album!! I believe several of the recordings were meant to be included on Monkees albums. I never wanted to be a farmer, but can imagine myself riding a tractor and enjoying the sunrise every time I hear Beyond The Blue Horizon. I have the CD but it’s a first edition and the digitization is lousy (sounds better on Spotify).

When it comes to feeling angry (specifically about politics, I’ve never hated CNN more ) nothing quite does it like some loud rawk and roll.
Hahaha that’s one thing we can certainly agree on despite our political differences, CNN is trash I always like to blast some angsty early-mid Muse when I’m pissed, very cathartic.
Right now I’m feeling quite mellow, though, as I’m listening to Meddle (1971) by Pink Floyd, which I actually haven’t listened to since last year but I set my alarm as the third verse of ‘Echoes’ this morning and went LADS ITS ECHOES TIME

gawdDAYUM I love this song
I see I’m not the only one here feeling Floydy today. Lovely. There’s nothing quite like that mellow early Floyd, before the boys were hardened by the success of DSOTM (I love post-Dark Side Floyd too, but it’s a different mood for sure).

It is a very good album. I have never really delved into Mike’s solo stuff besides a few odd songs here and there and I am enjoying it so far. I am now up to Loose Salute.
And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

Actually, I think we probably disagree less than you think, since I’m as critical of the Democratic establishment as you are, and CNN is basically their propaganda machine just as Fox is to the Republican party.
On topic, I’m continuing my Replacements binge, with the album closer from Let It Be . Every time I listen to them I become more convinced that they’re one of the all time greats, and severely underrated.

Von Bontee, BeatlebugI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Those guys never made a fully-realized album: it wouldn’t have been in their nature. Much of their identity and mythology was in their ramshackle way of doing things, and assembling tracks into an album was one of those things. But that one is still fantastic, and may as well be their best. (And “We’re Coming Out” is their acknowledgment of that aforementioned half-assished-ness: “One more chance to do it all wrong/One more chance to get it half-right/Anyway/Anyway…/We’re coming out!”)

I can’t say I’ve watched a whole lot of either, but I think Fox News’s non-political-commentary reporting has improved, whereas CNN seems more blatantly dishonest and less willing to admit their bias. That’s just my vague impression of the matter, as like I said I don’t watch mainstream news much.
I’m listening to ‘The Lady Don’t Mind’ by Talking Heads from my wizard-friend’s birthday playlist.

((I didn’t end up taking that APUSH exam, my teacher is allowing me to postpone it until next week because of how exhausted I am, bless him. So instead I threw on Relics during my “free period” and ended up falling asleep somewhere around “Paintbox” and woke up to the end of “Cirrus Minor”))
