IzzyMissLizzy, vonbonteeI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Ooh, I need to listen to London Town again. The silver rain is currently falling down on the dirty ground.
Currently, though, I’m listening to this album released on this day in 1977:
David Bowie – Low

Using Spotify to finally properly investigate Miles Davis’ final decade of recording/life. Like his ’70-75 music, his 80s sound is entirely electric, heavy on guitars and reliant on hard-hitting polyrhythm, but there are differences. Mike Henderson’s steady basslines are replaced by Marcus Miller’s more trebly, hyperactive slaps and pops. Synthesizer is added, largely for background. And the tracks are usually short ones – the occasional extended one, but no more album-side length statements. Also, taking a few years off seems to have rejuvenated Davis’ trumpet soloing – he’s no longer relying on the Wah-Wah pedal at all.
So far I’ve heard ’84s “Decoy” and “You’re Under Arrest” from the following year. Next up: “We Want Miles”, live in Japan in ’81.
(And hey look, he even made a video!)

Recently found this awesome live 80s performance you might appreciate
Currently checking out a compilation called “The Gentle Side of John Coltrane” while I do some studying; currently on “After The Rain “, which is gorgeous.

lovelyritametermaid said, and I quote
Wings– London Town (1978)
It’s dinnertime, and Wings always makes good kitchen music.
I love how effortless Paul always sounds in everything he does – melodies, playing, singing. You get the (erroneous) impression that he just tosses out songs, perfectly-formed, with perfect ease and grace, and they’re absolutely marvellous at least 50% of the time.
Then again, I also love musicians like Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and Matt Bellamy because they play/sing like their lives depend on it, and they’re putting every ounce of effort they can muster into it or they might die, and you’re never quite sure if they’re going to make it, so when they do it absolutely blows your socks off. I guess it just depends on my mood
