Currently listening to “Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols”. An integral album to the history of British pop, and (as many of you probably know) one of the greatest inspirations for the 90’s grunge rock scene.
Highlights for me include “Holidays In The Sun”, “No Feelings”, “God Save The Queen” and “EMI”.
Yeah, those are my picks too, along with “Bodies” and “Problems”. Love Johnny Rotten’s mewling.
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

Newly discovered (by me) upcoming British band, Squid…
Fascinating, elements of Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Talking Heads and early Roxy Music can be spotted in these three tracks – with cowbell present and correct in the third track. These I am liking a lot and have the feeling they are on the verge of becoming very very big. Definitely one to watch.

Very nice recommendation, will check some of their discography if I do have the time sometime later. I do get some early Pink Floyd vibes from them, due to the prog-ish nature, use of multiple variants of instrumental noise, and the almost sarcastic and sneering vocals.
We do a little trolling

I hear The Tubes and maybe a bit of Pete Ubu (and Talking Heads, kinda). Interesting sounds. I liked the warped funk of “The Cleaner” best.
…and now I’ll let the cowbell player’s (Bongo?) T-shirt dictate my next listening choice
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.
