Ireland is currently continuing to prove itself as one of the best places for rock + punk music in the world right now. The Dublin scene’s flagship band, Fontaines DC, have been making waves for a while:
Girl Band just released a new album:
And The Murder Capital just released their debut album, including what might be my favourite song of the year:
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Listening to David Bowie’s ‘hours. . . ‘ *eyeroll*, released on this day in 1999, and trying my best to convince myself that I don’t dislike it as much as I did previously. I find the production absolutely soporific, but I have developed a fondness for ‘Seven’ so maybe the songs aren’t as boring as I remember.
Edit: So far, it’s much better than I remember. Not sure why I was so bored by it before, and rather regret I didn’t give it a second chance sooner, but better late than never… always nice to have more Bowie to discover (I know that can’t last forever )
2nd edit: I still think the title punctuation is silly though

Fontaines/Girl Band singers both kinda remind me of the late Mark E. Smith-ah.

Giving a quick listen in right now….noisy! feedback! Now dance beats…hmm, interesting…
…might check in again later, as an alternate headphones-soundtrack to the hockey game. For now, back to the current soundtrack…
Recorded February 10, 1964…while, a few miles away, Beatles cram a lotta stuff in between Sullivan and Washington Coliseum!

Tonight there were some technical difficulties and he was unable to play what he had planned to, instead having to rely on the station’s existing rotation. His programme is called ‘Blackout Radio’ and will be airing every second Friday night 8-10 PM EST, hopefully properly from now on.

Came out earlier this year, the first new studio album by Alan Parsons in 15 years:
Was led to it by this recommended video on YouTube:
Has him playing a pirate. There’s animated sections where his career is seen through his time on various pirate ships; first he’s seen swabbing the deck of the Abbey Road , four Beatley-looking pirates looking on; then he’s seen walking the plank of the Rose Floyd (rose is French for pink); after that he gets his own ship, The Project; and the career references keep coming.
Also rather like this track, found it quite Beatley, with echoes of John in Mark Mikel’s (ex of The Pillbugs) vocal, and the lead guitar is quite Harrisonesque:

Ooh, the Pillbugs! Their ’98 double-album was quite a cool little thing.
Still on an Art Blakey kick…followed up “Free For All” with 1965’s “‘s-Make It!” last night, and now onto “Orgy In Rhythm”, an experiment with multiple percussionists. (Recorded 1957; sorry no Beatles synchronicity-links)
