I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I’m on The Bridge by Billy Joel now. I’ve listened to all of his albums up to here while in the car in the past 3 days. I’m in the car way too much.

It’s a parody album from 1962 of the Kennedy administration, in particular ribbing on JFK’s marketing of his perfect family- when as we all know now, it wasn’t the ideal image that was portrayed.
Listened to it first above 4 years ago. I’m a big Kennedy girl* as I’ve said a few times before. I love US Presidential history and the Kennedy White House years would be one of my reserve Mastermind topics if I ever get the show. I’ve forgotten how funny it is:
Jackie: Family, family, family, Jack there’s just too much family. Can we ever get away alone?
Jack: Tomorrow, I-I promise tomorrow we’ll go away together uh tomorrow. No more family for awhile now, I promise. Now turn off the light. Goodnight, Jackie.
Jackie: Goodnight, Jack.
Jack: Goodnight Bobby, goodnight Ethel…
*I wouldn’t call myself a fan of them, they’ve done awful, awful things that they’ve successfully covered up or the public have just forgotten about with their good PR but as a whole JFK was a decent president, not incredible but he stopped a nuclear war where a weaker man would have caved in to his advisers, Bobby Kennedy, was a brilliant Attorney General, had promise as President for domestic issues and helped loosen the claw of the mafia on trade unions, and Ted Kennedy’s baby was the Affordable Care Act and was a great senator, his voting record from a 2019 perspective is very impressive (barhissupportofIsraelbutthat’sageneralKennedyissue*coughs*).
