CRACK BABY CRACK
Fab musicianship (esp drumming) in that Schlagenheim track, I’m curious about their album myself now! Very enjoyable sound on that track, mostly. (Singer being weak link)
Now listening to Herbie Hancock, “King Cobra”

The singing does seem to be very unusual, and I would agree that it’s not the best part of the sound. Maybe it’ll grow on me, but the musicianship is what’s attracting me most at this stage. Near DT, MI is my favourite track from what I’ve heard of the album.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

OMG I live near Detroit, Michigan myself and was playing “Panic in…” not half an hour ago! (I was prompted)
Now listening to Black Midi’s half hour set on YT and they make a hell of a ferocious racket! Reminiscent of 90s underground crunches like Truman’s Water or Pavement, but with a much better drummer. (These guys sound more American than English to me, overall.) Singer is actually really enjoyable, and his timbre weirdly recalls Bon Scott.
Nice discovery, Q, keep it up!

That reminds me, I really need to give Pavement’s stuff a proper listen. Welp, now on to the next Crimson album, whatever that is.

^I don’t care for it much as an album track but it sounds really good live. Fuh You is one I didn’t particularly enjoy when I heard it on the album, after hearing it live, it’s really grown on me but I still sing it as ‘F**k You’.
Listening currently:
I was really into the music coming out of LA a few years ago, now I feel completely out of touch! Really good cycling song btw ^

I need to hear (or watch I’d possible) some live 1970s Bruce/E Street Band performance someday…

Next item chronologically is Hot Rats, which Qman’s already heard, and is the second “solo” album. And it’s followed by the two final albums of the original Mothers, released 1970 and consisting of material recorded 1967-69.
“Hot Rats” mixes actual songs with onstage wackiness and a few studio experiments, and edits the whole thing together in supremely jarring fashion.
“Burnt Weenie Sandwich” is instrumental but for two doo-wop covers, and is highlighted by this epic:
