Great hip hop album. Boots Riley has a very witty and sharp delivery, and the music is played by a live band, with production elements reminiscent of 70’s Stevie Wonder.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

I woke up with ‘5:15 the Angels Have Gone’ in my head and it’s very overcast, kind of like the song, so I’m going to be listening to it for a while… ahdn_george_06

@Shamrock Womlbs’s favourite Pink Floyd album, released on this day in 1969
PinkFloyd_More-1.pngImage Enlarger

Pink Floyd – More (1969)

Hardly a gem in their discography but it has some very pleasant numbers, perfect for a mellow summer’s day. ‘Cirrus Minor’ and ‘Green Is The Colour’ are two of my favourite Floyd songs from my favourite Floyd era.

My tree playlist. I’m not currently in a tree, but I couldn’t care less because these are damn good songs, tree or not.

Was: Something

Am: Here Comes The Sun (yes this is a coincidence, shuffle is magical)

Will: Julia

I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

For those who remember a few weeks ago when I asked for advice about which album to buy next in LP format, I’d like to congratulate @Beatlebug as I did go with Bowie’s wonderful Low, and that is what I am listening to now. Admittedly, I would have gone for Hounds of Love or both, but I couldn’t find it in the record shop.

I’ve always loved Sound and Vision, but I think this one (and Warszawa) has become my new favourite on Low, which I have been spinning non stop a-hard-days-night-john-6The melody just sounds so wild and cathartic.

In addition to those, I think my personal favourites (right now — I just listened to it last night) are What In The World, Always Crashing In The Same Car, ANCIANT, and Subterraneans. Also the rest of the album too, as well. a-hard-days-night-paul-10 paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8Oops, looks like I forgot to link the song I was talking about paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif It was A New Career In A New Town, as you said. A very beautiful one, and I believe the harmonica is featured on I Can’t Give Everything Away, the last song on Blackstar a-hard-days-night-paul-7

Ah, I wondered a-hard-days-night-paul-7 I assumed you were referring to Sound and Vision.

A very beautiful one, and I believe the harmonica is featured on I Can’t Give Everything Away, the last song on Blackstar a-hard-days-night-paul-7

Indeed it is, and the first time I listened to it* that harmonica really got me a-hard-days-night-paul-10

*also the last. I haven’t quite been able to bring myself to go through that emotional roller-coaster of an album since — it hasn’t felt like the right time. a-hard-days-night-paul-7 Maybe Halloween I’ll play it and have myself a little seance in the dark a-hard-days-night-george-10

On-topic: I started Let It Be this morning and only got to One After 909 so I’m going to finish it now.
