Right, I was making a joke about Pisces Fishes and now I’m gonna have to listen to Brainwashed. It’s been too long since I got the Hare Hari out.

John Lennon /Plastic Ono Band. Today one of my classmates told me he’d been interested in John lately. Too bad I was both too shy and too anxious to have a Lennonist summit with him.

Absolute banger of a song, JCS is an excellent rock opera but this song is the definition of a tune:

Released today, approaching sixteen months since the death of lead singer Dolores O’Riordan, the final Cranberries album, In the End. The songs had been recorded as demos starting when they touring in May 2017. The band have taken them into the studio with their golden-era producer, Stephen Street, and given her demo vocals a classic Cranberries studio backing.
The album is heartbreaking listening to it.
Some of it is just too close to the bone. The above lead track’s “It’s all over now” and “Do you remember the place / A hotel room in London…” (Though the song’s about domestic violence, there is the irony that she accidentally drowned in a hotel room in London. )
Elsewhere she sings, “This is my conclusion.” Some of it… you know… given what happened…
Given the magnificent band performances, there’s an ache that we’ll never know what vocal gymnastics Dolores may have come up with in the studio, not to say that her demo vocals aren’t wonderful.
The band have said this album sees the Cranberries name retired. There is a finality about it.
A fitting and moving epitaph.

I’m listening to Ben Shapiro rant about human nature on The Rubin Report.

I love JCS, but I love LOVE the 1973 filmed version! It’s spectacularly filmed, and the framing device is clever. (Producers supposedly considered John for the part of Jesus!)

Urgh, let’s be careful the philosophy thread doesn’t spill over into here.

He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I wasn’t commenting on what he was saying — I was just saying what I was listening to, which was on topic. You’re the one making it an issue.
And now we’re getting off topic. So in the interest of continuing to not spill the philosophy thread over here, I hereby declare that I am listening to All Things Must Pass .
