Heh, that’s a pretty good tradeoff

It was a glorious decade for all recorded sounds (mostly) and damn! if “Panic in Detroit” doesn’t sound like its absolute peak, right now, as it often does. Those Bo Diddley polyrhythms, the electronic effects, feedback-wah squall, supremely panicked vocal (+Linda Lewis!), Dylan-jive lyrics plus that undefined Bowie alien quality….wow. This is a goddamned hard rocking (and rolling and bouncing) masterpiece worthy of the motor city’s musical legacy, and the heavy Detroit radio airplay it still receives. (My first exposure, 1985ish – one of the benefits of living right on the Michigan border!)

I bought that back then, I was sixteen. Now I’m sixty one! Don’t know where all that time went..
Welcome back!
“Leia’s Plans” is amazing in all aspects.
I’m listening to the Arctic Monkeys’ “Four Out of Five” and hearing David Bowie.

That new AM record certainly had a lot of Bowie in it. Not on his level, though

Well, yes, and the sky is also blue (except when it’s grey, as it is now where I am)
Was:
‘Criminal World’ – Metro (I think I still prefer Bowie’s slightly because I’m BIAAAAAASED, even though the original has all that cool ‘IWY(SSH)’ guitar at the end)
‘Ram On ‘ – Paul and Linda McCartney
‘Real Cool World’ and ‘Lucy Can’t Dance’ and ‘Real Cool World’ again – the Bowie
‘Criminal World’ again – the Bowie one
‘Afraid’ – the Bowie
‘Absolute Beginners’ – that Bowie
Am:
