This afternoon’s Bowie-fix, Reality (2003), lovingly dedicated to @50yearslate
Next up: Probably Lodger – Bowie (1979) — now THAT’S a weird one but it’s been a while since I heard it, so I feel I should give it a spin.

I’m listening to Lodger now.
David Bowie has done a LOT of albums. They’re all weird. This one is hands-down his weirdest.

Very good choices
I need to listen to ATMP today, I’ve had I Live For You and If Not For You in my head all day…
Oh, and fun fact: Every time I see a post that says “rn” I think it’s stolen.

I don’t know
It’s got ‘Fantastic Voyage’, ‘D.J.’, and ‘Boys Keep Swinging’ on it.
It’s also got… whatever this is
It’s kind of an oddball fun album (plus it’s BOWIE), go check it out if you like. As the comments under the above song say:
I’m currently listening to ‘ocean eyes’ by Billie Eilish. I came across it by chance and it’s kinda pretty.

Believe it or not, I think I’ve actually heard that song (shocking, right?) and I agree that it’s good.

I’ve spent this evening attempting to catch up on a few 2019 releases from this year, and while I’m not as blown away as I was this time last year (2018 was an AMAZING year for music all round) I’ve really enjoyed some of the stuff I’ve heard. Here’s a few of the albums.
Stella Donnelly – Beware of the Dogs
Basically a really fun and upbeat pop/indie rock album with very cutting lyrics, particularly in this track which attacks male privilege.
Sun Kil Moon – I Also Want To Die In New Orleans
Mark Kozelek’s stream-of-consciousness folk and slowcore music is very hit and miss for me, but this album has some cool jazzy instrumentation that makes it really enjoyable.
Sharon Van Etten – Remind Me Tomorrow
Another great indie rock album, would recommend if you liked the Stella Donnelly one.
American Football – American Football LP3
I was expecting to dislike this based on the embarrassing looking song titles and the kind of disappointing predecessor, but this album is very fresh, expansive and beautiful. The feature of Rachel Goswell from Slowdive was awesome too.
Little Simz – Grey Area
The first hip hop album I’ve really enjoyed from this year. Little Simz marks herself out as someone to watch on the scene.
I’ve also been meaning to check out the new Xiu Xiu and Flume projects, and also get round to hearing Egypt Station.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

After the Specials and the Fun Boy Three, what Terry Hall did next…
Great album but major shift of direction musically for Hall that was a relative commercial failure.

I’m spoiling myself. Hadn’t listened to this in an aeon but when I thought of it as a good candidate for the Underrated thread, you gotta check your memory ain’t fooling ya!!! Past twelve hours I’ve listened to the 1966 tracks 10-15 times and, with me ironically just shifting into the 1965 tracks, the ’65 maybe half-a-dozen (not that they ain’t good, just that ’66 ).
What a shitty shitty shitty fecking hand life dealt them, visas and the draft took it all away. Woulda been interesting to watch them, Floyd and Hendrix looking to out psych(-rock) each other in ’67. Ain’t no doubt they would have been major players.
And they’d be remembered for being the originator of the light show that Floyd nicked.
If you ain’t read the Underrated post yet, @Beatlebug, you might find it interesting. I reckon you’d like them.

D’Angelo’s Black Messiah. One of the coolest, funkiest albums to come out this decade. Would definitely recommend.
