More Bowie — ‘Zeroes’ again. I need help.I don’t know which song obsession is worse – you and Zeroes or Holey and This Song!
Then again, there’s always me and Return To Pepperland . I’ve posted about that song waaaay too many times in my two years here.
My long-running periodic obsession with ‘The Rain Song’ and/or ‘What Is And What Should Never Be’ (Led Zeppp) is nearly as bad.
Right now I’m satisfying both my 80’s-fantasy-film-score-soundtrack craving and my Bowie craving by listening to the soundtrack from Labyrinth. Good stuff.

Good one. I only heard it once (I promised my mate that I’d wait for him to catch up with me on the Bowie before listening to more Queen) but I really dug ‘The Prophet’s Song’.
Currently listening to the State Of The Union address.
Amurica!

Little bit o’ Stevie. Was also playing The Stooges’ Raw Power earlier, one of the best proto-punk albums.

Good Day Sunshine should do the trick.
I’m not listening to music right now because I’m at school, but when I get home I’m going to listen to George, so much George. The hands of the clock cannot move fast enough.

Heroes and Zeroes
Exactly. The song and album “Heroes” came first, then ‘Zeroes’ was later. I’m sure it was an intentional semi-reference.
Good Day Sunshine should do the trick.
Obviously that one, but the whole album is so sun-drenched.
Currently listening to Cloud Nine – The George (1987).

Very nice Stevie single, one of my favourite of his 60s hits. Bass playing is all-time!
(And as for the Stooges, I’ll always take “Fun House” over both the predecessor and followup. But that first Bowie-Iggy collaboration is still its own particular kind of great)
Listening to Elton John’s “Amoreena” right now…

I’ve yet to get to Fun House actually. Iggy’s career has been on the back burner for me for a while, so I’m only just getting round to hearing his discography.

Actually, Iggy’s solo recording career is kinda hit-or-miss for me, even though he’s still practucally required viewing as a live-in-your-face performer – I’ve seen him four times in Toronto/Detroit over a period spanning 1987 through 2013, and I hardly ever need to see any rock performer more than once. But the Stooges’ original trio of albums is pretty perfect…Fun House is the one where they incorporate Steve Mackay and his exciting post-Coltrane tenor sax riffing and screaming. Very loose and improvisatory, and well-sequenced.
Currently listening to Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry’s collaborative instrumental jam album (complete with track called “Liverpool Drive”)
Recorded sometime in March 1964…..Beatles take a spontaneous drive to Liverpool, maybe, or think about it at least, despite being in London all month filming AHDN

Yay, Fiddy’s about to adopt a second band to love! (and Beatlebug chose a great one to steer her towards!)
And don’t worry Walry, the Zepheads around here still love ya.
Listening to “Another View”, the 1986 collection of Velvet Underground outtakes from 1967-69. Leadoff track is utterly frivolous and irresistible:
Recorded September 30, 1969…John goes to bed happy, having spent the last two days recording and mixing his new single. And American record-store employees spend that night filling bins in preparation for tomorrow’s big release. (And that album will turn out to be a favourite and an inspiration to the Velvets when they begin to record their own final effort in the forthcoming months. It’s all a rich tapestry!)
