Aftermath – The Rolling Stones
Regarding “Pet Sounds”, hi Mr. Sunking, I think it takes a few listens but it is worth it. Even just for the musicianship which is brilliant. By 1966 it had been some time since the Beach Boys had played on their own records, Brian Wilson hired the 'Wreckin' Crew' ( Phil Spectors house band natch. ) to perform his compositions and the Beach Boys came in and put down their vocals later. Like most other things it's not perfect, many question the inclusion of 'Sloop John B' and it was record company impatience that led to “Let's Go Away for Awhile' being an instrumental as , apparently Brian was taking an age to finish the project but , all in all it is a classic and it did help inspire ” Sgt. Pepper “.

It pays to hear the whole thing: God Only Knoiws and Caroline, No saved the album. Currently re-listening to You Believe In Me.

Trying Pet Sounds again. Can anyone explain why it's considered this masterpiece?
I felt the same way. I get the influence. And I can see how Paul was inspired by it, but I wasn't thrilled by it. I haven't listened to the album in full since February. Lets give it another try shall we.
So I guess I am now listening to Pet Sounds.

I agree with I Just Wasn't Made for These Times. It was the one song besides God Only Knows and Wouldn't It Be Nice that I enjoyed from the get go that I didn't already know. Brian Wilson understands us.
Here Today is also really good. Still feel sleepy though. This is an album you listen to on a sunny Sunday afternoon relaxing.
Currently on Pet Sounds (song). I had to pause the album for a minute to listen to With Whom You Belong by Fistful of Mercy. It's a good song.

How can you not like Pet Sounds? One of my favorite albums and has my favorite Beach Boys song on it. (God Only Knows) But right now I'm listening to The Edge of Heaven by Wham! I've been on an 80's/Wham! kick lately and it really makes me want to get The Best of Wham! album. Hmmm, wonder if there's a cheep version on Amazon that's used but still looks nice.

Pet Sounds (I speak from experience) needs to grow on you.
God Only Knows currently. Also, MND, are there any Dean Martin songs that talk of the streets of Rome? You seem to be the one to ask for those types of songs.

The only one I can think of is An Evening in Roma which is about an evening in Rome. There maybe another one but not from what I know. And I'm glad to be of service. It feels nice to know that people think I know a lot of those type of song because I do love being known for knowing older songs. Which I kind of am at school. And The Joshua Tree is another good album too.
