If you want a single Floyd song to get hooked on, I would recommend Echoes. I would not take Quarryman’s recommendations as it splits up the Dark Side album as well as the Wish You Were Here album, both of which have unbelievable flow.
I got into Pink Floyd through Syd Barrett but the Gilmour years are absolutely magical.

Fair enough, actually. Echoes is amazing, provided you don’t get lost in the middle section.
Also, after you get into Floyd the Velvet Underground should be on your list. One of the best bands of all time for sure.

I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I know right?!? It’s amazing. But there’s a lot of competition. I’ve moved on to Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five now (one of Dear Boy ‘s fiercest competitors for the title of Best Paul Song).

Haha you and Walrian both. Nope, they were real eggs.
Currently shuffle-listening to This Is David Bowie on Spotify because I love all of his albums way too much to be able to choose one with which to celebrate his birthday
It was just ‘China Girl’ and now it’s ‘Ziggy Stardust’. Later I’ll be a good child and listen to a proper album
Edit: Now it’s his cover of ‘It’s Hard To Be A Saint In The City’, which I’m ashamed to say I have never heard before. And here I thought they wouldn’t play any deep cuts!
Second edit: HOLY CRAVAT I JUST HAD A PREMONITION. For absolutely no good reason, when the last song ended I was expecting ‘Suffragette City’ next, and GUESS WHAT I HEARD NEXT?!?!?!

David Bowie’s self-titled 1967 debut album*… holy houses, I forgot just how twee and weird he was in 1967 .
*Released the same day as Sgt Pepper — which is only half the reason it was buried by history.

I think that his first album is very good despite its craziness. It is humorous to me but the tunes are also great.

Eh. It had its odd moments where i could hear brilliance peeking through, but otherwise it seemed pretty forgettable to me.
Now I’m listening to Hunky Dory as a reminder that he did eventually learn how to write absolutely cracking pieces of work.
